Strategy
Pebble is best understood as a distractor survivalist.
His active ability is Speak!.
Pebble's passive ability is Fetch!.
Pebble is a Distractor Survivalist whose defining trait is his unmatched movement speed. With 5-star Movement Speed and high Stamina, Pebble possesses both exceptional survivability and the ability to distract Twisteds proficiently. He can outpace most Twisteds at walking speed alone, preserving his stamina for emergencies. His 3-star Skill Check makes extraction somewhat bearable, but his 1-star Extraction Speed is the lowest in the game, so focusing on machines is not recommended. Pebble was actually designed to be a slow extractor with extremely high survivability -- the community invented the distractor role, and the dev team followed along with an ability rework to support it.
Pebble's active ability, Speak!, is a powerful distraction tool. It functions similarly to a failed Machine Skill Check, alerting nearby Twisteds to his location and drastically lowering his Stealth by 50 units. This lets you steal aggro off teammates being chased, provided you are within the Twisted's detection range -- using it from too far behind a fleeing Twisted will not redirect them. In narrow areas, activate Speak! preemptively when teammates with lower or equal Stealth need to pass through. Be aware that Twisteds with 9999 hearing radius, such as Twisted Vee, will detect Speak! from anywhere on the map. Air Horns found around the map serve as a solid backup when Speak! is on cooldown; using both together drops Pebble to roughly -90 Stealth.
Pebble's passive ability, Fetch!, highlights nearby items, making resource collection significantly easier. This is especially valuable during Blackouts when visibility drops, or when grinding Event Currencies and Research Capsules for Ichor. Combined with his top-tier speed, Pebble can efficiently scout areas and gather items for the team. Be cautious, however, as Fetch! will still highlight the fake Twisted Rodger capsule. When Yatta is hit, killed, or completes a Machine within Fetch!'s range, Pebble can even see the spawned items moving as they scatter. Note that trinkets like Memory Locket, Research Map, and common Event Trinkets are redundant on Pebble since Fetch! already highlights items.
When distracting multiple Main Twisteds simultaneously, you will need to sprint if Twisted Vee inflicts the Slow debuff or Twisted Glisten becomes enraged. Having an Astro teammate nearby helps regenerate your Stamina faster. Only sprint when a fast Twisted is about to hit you -- even when turning corners, walk if they are not closing distance. Avoid pulling Twisteds of vastly different speeds, as slower ones may lose line of sight and wander off to hit teammates. Stay in an area away from Machines and Items so Twisted Pebble does not lose aggro on you and chase other Toons.
For trinket loadouts, Pebble has three main builds. For distraction, Dog Plush alone lets Pebble outwalk everything except Twisted Pebble, enraged Twisted Glisten, and Twisted Coal during Blackouts (22 walk speed). Pair it with Speedy Shoes (23.1 walk) for beginners, Clown Horn or Ribbon Spool (24.2 walk / 33 run) to outwalk pre-Panic Twisted Glisten and Twisted Pebble, Vanity Mirror (39 run) to outrun almost all Twisteds during Panic Mode, or Train Whistle to completely nullify the Slow debuff. Scrapbook helps prevent 3-star Stealth teammates from accidentally stealing your aggro. For extraction, Magnifying Glass compensates for his 1-star Extraction Speed and 3-star Skill Check; pair it with Vee's Remote for faster floor progression or Participation Award to maximize Skill Check extraction speed. For ability cooldown, Ghost Snakes In A Can reduces Speak!'s cooldown to 55 seconds, and adding Sweet Charm further lowers it to about 50 seconds. Pair Pebble with extraction-focused Toons like Brightney, Shelly, or Brusha -- they handle machines while Pebble keeps Twisteds occupied and scouts items for the team.
Pebble and Dandy
Pebble is often searched alongside Dandy because their lore and dialogue suggest a long-standing connection inside Dandy's World.
Appearance
Personality
Pebble's personality is largely defined by his dog-like behavior, despite technically being a pet rock. He is affectionate and playful toward most Toons and appears to worry about Dandy, his owner, as suggested by his interaction with Astro. Although he cannot speak English, he clearly understands it, resorting to growls and loud barks when other Toons upset him. Dialogues from Astro, Gigi, Shelly, and Vee all suggest that his barks function as a substitute for words and can convey genuine meaning, though Vee may have been being sarcastic. Coal, the other dog Toon, seemingly holds full conversations with Pebble through mutual barking, and the two are confirmed friends -- Bobette's gossip directly states they are companions. There is also an unsettling side to Pebble: his persistent staring habit tends to unnerve other Toons, as seen in his interactions with Sprout, Rodger, Toodles, Vee, possibly Dazzle, and Bassie. All three dog characters (Pebble, Coal, and Eclipse) share this staring tendency, though Ribecca is significantly unluckier on the receiving end due to being made of bones. True to dog nature, Pebble enjoys playing fetch and eating treats, perhaps a little too much, though not quite to the same extent as Coal. Goob and Pebble are friendly toward each other, with Goob not understanding the feud between Pebble and Scraps -- likely because Goob has some dog-like qualities himself. Meanwhile, Scraps and Pebble do not get along, a dynamic that likely references the classic rivalry between cats and dogs.

Trivia
- Pebble's Toon Handler is Devan Reed, who is also Dandy's Toon Handler.
- Pebble is Dandy's pet rock, as Dandy himself states when you purchase Pebble's Toon license: 'Hey, that's my pet rock! Take good care of him will ya?'
- The clover-like markings on his cheeks likely represent Dandy, subtly affirming that Pebble is Dandy's pet rock. His Loyal Bud skin features a flower bud with petal colors mirroring Dandy's, and the skin name itself is a pun -- 'bud' refers to both the flower and 'buddy.'
- Pebble met Dandy on August 24, 1987, meaning Pebble was created before that date.
- Pebble and Coal are confirmed friends, as shown by Coal's Mastery requiring surviving 5 rounds with Pebble, and Bobette's gossip directly confirming their friendship.
- His name describes a small rock, which is exactly what he is. His design may be a pun on rockhounding, a slang term for amateur geology.
- Pebble's designation is M-001, where the M likely stands for Main Character. The -001 means he was the first Main Character created by Delilah and the second Toon overall after Dandy.
- Pebble, Razzle and Dazzle, and Bassie are the fastest Toons in the game with 5-star Movement Speed, though Looey can outrun all of them when on one Health. Pebble and Bassie are the only ones to consistently reach this speed, as the Twin Masks and Looey are situational.
- Pebble was the only Toon with a 'Reach Floor' Mastery requirement before Bobette, Bassie, Flutter, and Flyte were added.
- Pebble's Star-Time skin has a bigger tail than any of his other skin models, likely intentional to fit all the stickers on it.
- Pebble is the first and currently only Toon to have his abilities completely scrapped and changed. His old Active Ability was reworked into Coal's Active Ability (which highlights for everyone instead of just herself), and his old Passive Ability (Survival Instincts) increased stealth and stamina by 25% when on one Health.
- Looking inside Pebble's model used to reveal a 3D-modeled tongue intended for animations but left unused up through v0.6.4. Two skins (Loyal Bud and Thorned Geode) had differently colored tongues. The tongue was removed in v0.7.1, but Twisted Pebble retains his.
- All three dog characters (Pebble, Coal, and Eclipse) share staring problems. Pebble's staring is directly pointed out by Sprout and Ribecca.
- Twisteds with 9999 hearing radius, like Twisted Vee, are alerted to Pebble's Speak! ability from anywhere on the map.
- Pebble is the cheapest Main Character Toon if not counting Event Main Characters.
- When Pebble uses his Active Ability, the sound plays lower-pitched on the user's side but normal-pitched when heard by another player.
- Pebble is one of the few Toons without typical hands or lacking hands entirely.
- Pebble is the first Toon to have a visible nose.
- Pebble is the only base-game Main Toon that has not appeared in any of the episode storyboards.
- Pebble is tied with Razzle and Dazzle and Sprout for the most skins in the game, with 9 total.
- Pebble can perform a backflip, confirmed by Dandy Plush in gossip dialogue. He once landed on his back like a turtle after a flip, but did not mind his predicament despite his owner helping him up.
- Pebble is one of the few Toons who have official plush merchandise.
- If you use both an Air Horn and Speak!, Pebble drops to roughly -90 Stealth, close to Shrimpo's level (only 9 units apart).
- Pebble's full name is Pebble Dancifer Jr. He is the only pet to inherit a last name from their owner.
- Pebble's stats are nearly identical to Razzle's, differing by only 1 star in Stamina.
- Prior to Sprout's release, Pebble had the shortest ability cooldown among Mains at 30 seconds. After his ability rework, he is now tied with Astro and Shelly at 60 seconds.
- Pebble used to have 2-star Skill Check, making him the second slowest extractor, before being bumped to 3 stars. This makes him the only Main Toon with 3-star Skill Check.
- Pebble's Speak! ability is essentially a failed Machine Skill Check -- Twisteds play their failed Skill Check detection noise when you use it, but it also lowers Stealth.
- Pebble was designed to be a slow extractor with extremely high survivability. The distractor role was created by the community, and the dev team followed along with an ability change.
- In v0.7.2, Pebble got a remodel and new idle animation where he twirls around on the spot. Twisted Pebble also received new animations.
- The Served Eggy skin was originally dark gray during development but was changed to dark orange at release. That skin and Extra Cheese make Pebble the first non-Holiday Main to have an Event-exclusive skin.
- Pebble is currently the shortest Toon, roughly reaching most Toons at hip height.
- When Yatta is hit, killed, or completes a Machine within Fetch!'s range, Pebble can see the items moving as they spawn and scatter.
- Pebble and Brightney are among the first non-Shrimpo Toons to have 1 star on a stat. He is the first Main to have 1 star on a statistic.
- Pebble and Bassie need to travel more meters for their Masteries than other Mains. Pebble requires the most at 175,000 meters, the highest of any Toon, with Bassie second at 160,000.
- Pebble is the first Toon to be featured in 2 separate game thumbnails (v0.11 and v0.12).
- Pebble is one of three Main Characters present in the game at launch, alongside Astro and Vee.
- Pebble is the second Main to receive updated models and animations (after Bobette), and the first from the base game.
- Pebble, Toodles, and Blot are among the few Toons to be predominantly grayscale in color.
- Pebble is going to be the last Main Character to get their own themed map, if he ends up getting one.
- Pebble and Sprout are the second Toons to have both their normal and Twisted counterparts appear in the game's thumbnail, with Razzle and Dazzle and Blot being first.
- Pebble is one of the few Toons whose ability name ends with an exclamation mark.
- Pebble used to be the second slowest extractor even after his Skill Check was bumped from 2 to 3 stars, until the 2025 Easter Event when Bassie was added.
