Strategy
Finn is best understood as a extractor.
Finn's passive ability is Reel In.
Finn is a beginner-friendly Extractor whose passive ability, Reel In, grants a 35% Movement Speed boost for 10 seconds every time any Machine is completed. This stacks with multiple completions, meaning four Machines finished at once can allow Finn to outwalk Twisted Dyle outside of Panic Mode. His stat profile closely mirrors Shelly's, though Finn trades one star of Skill Check for a stronger speed boost (35% versus Shelly's 25%), giving him better survivability in exchange for marginally lower extraction efficiency. This trade-off makes Finn the more forgiving choice for players who prioritize escape potential over raw extraction speed.
After the Alpha 0.22.1 Finn's Week update, Finn has more search and gameplay relevance than before. The update added Golden Fishbowl, Reef Explorer, and Swimmy Finn skins, made Swimmy Barnaby playable from the Lobby, updated the Aquatic Floor, and reworked Twisted Finn so his Ichor Puddles now include Twisted Barnaby. Players trying to unlock Swimmy Finn should focus on the Swimmy Barnaby arcade challenge rather than Finn's normal store requirements; see the Swimmy Finn skin guide for the score 100 route.
Since Finn always receives a speed boost during Panic Mode when the final Machine is completed, preserving a small amount of Stamina for that moment is essential. If Twisted Finn is present, one dose of Reel In does not fully cancel the Slow debuff unless Gourdy is also in the run, so remain cautious even with the buff active. Choosing Well-Paced or Endurance cards provides a significant Stamina increase that lets Finn make full use of his ability, and his above-average extraction stats make him well-suited for completing Dyle's Floor with ease. If neither card is available, prioritizing Stamina-restoring Items during runs and managing your sprint usage carefully when not actively being chased are solid alternatives to compensate for his 2-star Stamina pool.
For survivability-focused Trinket builds, Pink Bow is a strong foundation that helps Finn outrun most Twisteds when Reel In activates. Pair it with Speedy Shoes for stronger sprint bursts, or with Vanity Mirror if you want safer Panic Mode movement after the final Machine. Clown Horn and Ribbon Spool each provide a conditional boost to both Walk and Run Speed and can be combined together for an equal Movement Speed increase. Star Pillow is a smart pick that regenerates Stamina faster while extracting, taking advantage of Finn's slower extraction pace, while Cooler directly increases his Stamina pool if management is a struggle — though Cooler should be avoided if you are already comfortable with Stamina management, as the slot is better used for offensive Trinkets.
For extraction-focused builds, Magnifying Glass capitalizes on Finn's 3-star Extraction Speed and strong 5-star Skill Check simultaneously. Pair it with Vee's Remote for quicker Floor progression and near-immediate speed boosts from completed Machines, or with Participation Award to maximize Skill Check extraction and take full advantage of his rating. Train Whistle is particularly valuable for long solo runs, as it prevents Slow debuffs from Twisted Finn and Twisted Vee while you focus on extracting on higher Floors where these Twisteds become increasingly dangerous threats.
In team compositions, Finn's passive makes him a decent backup distractor on Floors with high Machine counts, as the speed bursts from teammates completing Machines give him the mobility to draw Twisteds away from the Elevator during Panic Mode. However, his limited Stamina means he should not serve as a primary distractor — leave that role to Toons better suited for sustained chasing. Even with Speedy Shoes or Dog Plush equipped, Finn cannot outwalk most Twisteds without properly timed Machine completions, so distraction duty should only be taken as a secondary responsibility. Pairing with Astro is a strong choice, as Astro's superior Stamina pool covers Finn's main weakness, and pairing with fast extractors like Tisha or Flyte maximizes the frequency of Reel In activations for the whole team. Overall, Finn is a great survivalist and extractor who thrives in team environments where frequent Machine completions keep his Reel In ability cycling, though he still holds fair potential in solo runs thanks to his solid extraction stats.
Appearance
Personality
Finn is an energetic and extroverted Toon with a deep love of sea life. He eagerly shares marine facts and fish puns with anyone who will listen, and he sometimes goes overboard by continuing to make puns even when his audience has clearly lost interest, as shown in his exchanges with Glisten. Beyond being overzealous with humor, Finn struggles to pick up on social cues or notice how other Toons are feeling; he can unintentionally distress Toons like Squirm without realizing the impact. He is also somewhat forgetful, repeatedly forgetting to keep a safe distance from Vee to avoid short-circuiting her electronics. Despite these quirks, Finn is not malicious — he is a joyful Toon who genuinely tries his best to make others laugh or feel amazed with his marine knowledge, even if his approach can come across as unappealing or annoying to some.

Trivia
- Inside Finn's bowl lives Barnaby Wilikers, a purple-striped plastic wind-up fish toy, visible in his second idle animation and his extraction animation.
- Finn and Blot are the only Toons who have a Minor Character physically with them — Barnaby Wilikers and Blot Jr., respectively. They are even paired together in their own Stickers.
- Similar to Blot Jr., Barnaby's appearance changes in some of Finn's Skins.
- Finn is the first Toon capable of carrying an object or character in their head, with the second being Gigi and the third being Bassie.
- According to Dandy in a gossip, Barnaby can blink, move suspiciously fluidly, and respond to Finn. Dandy is the only Toon aware of this.
- Barnaby may be a toy robot, since he can move on his own while still being framed as a toy. It remains unclear how Barnaby responds to Finn when spoken to.
- Finn's dialogue with Sprout confirms he considers Barnaby 'more than just a toy fish,' supporting Dandy's gossip about Barnaby being alive.
- One Sticker shows Barnaby in a thinking pose alongside Finn, which could further support Dandy's gossip about Barnaby's sentience.
- In an official video featuring Dandy and Finn, Barnaby can briefly be seen with a shocked expression when Finn jumps.
- It is unknown how Finn lost his tooth.
- Finn and Teagan share several similarities: both were surprise Toons with no prior promotion, both released in updates with four Toons each, and both appeared in the v0.3 thumbnail alongside Twisted Goob. They were also the Uncommon Toons of their respective updates.
- Finn and Teagan are the only two Toons who have liquid inside their heads, and both use a comically large cork while sleeping.
- Finn and Teagan share similar Stats, swapping Stamina, Stealth, and Skill Check values. Both were optimized in v0.13.14.
- Finn's name was likely chosen because it sounds very similar to 'fin,' a body part most fish have.
- The first line Finn says in one of his interactions with Shrimpo may reference the 'Why So Serious' line from Joker in The Dark Knight.
- Finn's icon has white buckles on his vest, while his in-game model and Introduction Card artwork have black buckles — likely a minor art mistake.
- Finn drinks exclusively water, as confirmed in his interaction with Teagan. This may stem from worry that other liquids could contaminate Barnaby or the water inside his head.
- While walking or running, water splashes out of Finn's head every few seconds. Prior to his optimization, this particle effect was only visible to the player controlling Finn.
- The outline effect on Finn's head and arms is created by an enlarged blue-colored surface surrounding those parts. This technique is also used for Poppy's outlines, as well as both Toons' Twisted counterparts.
- Finn and Shelly are very similar, with nearly the same passive ability (Shelly gets 25% speed while Finn gets 33%) and similar Stats. Both also center around a specialized topic — marine biology for Finn and paleontology for Shelly.
- Finn talks with all of the base game Toons; the Event Toons except Bobette are all excluded from his interactions.
- Finn, along with Blot, Brusha, Gigi, and Yatta, is one of the few Toons without a revealed full icon.
- Finn and Shrimpo may actually be friends, as hinted in a gossip with Dandy. This is also implied by their matching Christmas Skins — Ice Fisher and Bundled Up, respectively.
- Finn is the first Toon to not mind Shrimpo's bullying and responds positively.
- Finn is the third Toon not released at launch to be optimized, following Cosmo, Sprout, Glisten, and Shelly. Coincidentally, all of them except Shelly were released in the same v0.3 update.
- Before his optimization in v0.13.14, Finn was one of three unoptimized Toons not featured on the Welcome To Gardenview poster prior to launch, alongside Gigi and Teagan.
- If you enter the Aquatic Floor map as Finn and go to his section, he will say '...I really do miss when these tanks were filled with critters.'
- The sound used for Finn's Reel In ability originates from Flood Escape 2, uploaded on the Roblox Audio Library as 'Flood escape Splash sound.wav.'
- Finn will be the second Toon overall and the first non-Main Toon to have a Toon of the Week, making him the first non-Main Toon to have a Golden and Robux-exclusive Skin while not being Event exclusive.
- The Alpha 0.22.1 Finn's Week update increased Reel In from a 33% Movement Speed boost to a 35% boost.
- Finn's Week added Golden Fishbowl, Reef Explorer, and Swimmy Finn skins. Swimmy Finn is tied to the Swimmy Barnaby arcade challenge.
- The same update made Swimmy Barnaby playable from the Lobby and reworked Twisted Finn's Ichor Puddles to include Twisted Barnaby.
