Strategy

Flyte is best understood as a all-rounder.

His active ability is Gust.

Flyte is an excellent All-Rounder Toon with 4-star Movement Speed, 3-star Stealth, and 4-star Extraction Speed. His Active Ability, Gust, places a wind zone at his location for 10 seconds that grants any Toon passing through it a 15% Movement Speed boost lasting 3 seconds. His stat distribution is nearly identical to Tisha's, with the only difference being their Skill Check and Extraction Speed star ratings are swapped — Flyte trades slightly worse Skill Checks for faster extraction. This makes Flyte a versatile pick who can contribute meaningfully to both machine completion and team mobility, filling whatever role the team needs most on any given floor.

Gust is particularly valuable when supporting slow Toons like Connie, Soulvester, and Shrimpo, all of whom sit at 1-star Movement Speed and can struggle to escape fast Twisteds such as Twisted Cocoa and Twisted Shelly. A key distinction from Tisha's similar ability is that Gust applies to Flyte himself, not just teammates. Tisha's buff does offer a higher 25% Movement Speed increase for a slightly longer duration, but being unable to buff herself limits Tisha's personal survivability. Flyte's self-applicable buff makes him significantly safer to play aggressively, and in scenarios where the team is being chased together, a single well-placed Gust can boost the entire group including Flyte simultaneously.

Practical applications for Gust cover a wide range of situations. It can be used as an escape tool similar to Flutter's Floaty Dash, deployed in front of teammates to both buff them and position Flyte ahead to draw Twisted aggro, or activated at the start of a floor to give the distractor an early speed advantage. During Elevator rushes, placing Gust at a strategic distance allows approaching Toons to receive maximum benefit — pay attention to who is still outside and time the activation when the most players are nearby, since the gust disappears after its duration expires. Save the ability for Panic Mode once a majority of Machines have been completed, as this is when the speed boost matters most. When supporting distractors during dangerous encounters, avoid randomly buffing them without warning since the sudden speed change may throw off their pathing. Ideal moments include floor starts, Elevator rushes during Panic Mode, encounters with Twisted Vee or Twisted Pebble, or when the distractor appears to be struggling. Try to anticipate their route and place the gust ahead of them rather than getting in their way.

During Blackouts, Flyte's Gust produces a small amount of light. While not dramatic, this illumination can help players navigate dark floors or locate items like Bandages and Health Kits that would otherwise be difficult to spot. Highlighting the Elevator or the correct path during Panic Mode may also assist newer players on low graphics settings, making Flyte one of the few non-light-themed Toons with utility during Blackout events. This secondary benefit is easy to overlook but can prove decisive on particularly dark floors where visibility is severely limited.

For Trinket combinations, Distraction builds center around Dog Plush, which unlocks the distractor role at 19.3 walk speed. Pair it with Speedy Shoes to reach 20.2 walk speed and outwalk most Twisteds slower than Twisted Toodles and Twisted Shelly, or use Clown Horn or Ribbon Spool to push walk speed to 21 — best suited for duo-distracting. Vanity Mirror reaches 35.75 run speed when active, outrunning nearly all Twisteds during Panic Mode. Train Whistle prevents Twisted Vee's slow and Ichor Leak effects, while Diary supports 3-star distractors without stealing aggro and Scrapbook prevents other 3-star Stealth Toons from taking aggro away. For Extraction builds, Magnifying Glass is the core Trinket that leverages Flyte's 4-star Extraction Speed. Combine it with Vee's Remote for quicker floor progression, Participation Award to maximize Skill Check extraction at the cost of window size, Thinking Cap for easier Skill Checks, or Mime Makeup to avoid attracting Twisteds on missed checks. Ghost Snakes In A Can reduces Gust's cooldown to 45 seconds, and adding Sweet Charm on top brings it down further to approximately 43 seconds.

Overall, Flyte functions very similarly to Tisha but with a slight stat swap favoring extraction over skill checks, a lower-percentage speed buff that compensates by applying to himself, and the added Blackout light utility. His flexibility as both extractor and support makes him a strong pick for any team composition, especially when the lobby includes slower Toons who benefit most from Gust. Teams running Flyte alongside a dedicated distractor should coordinate ability timing to avoid disrupting the distractor's pathing while maximizing the speed boost for fleeing extractors.

Appearance

Flyte is a tall, pastel cyan butterfly and currently holds the title of tallest Toon in the game, surpassing previous record holders like Sprout and Looey. He has an inverted egg-shaped head and pastel cyan legs, with two antennae atop his head that each end in a distinctive dark cyan clover shape. Pink makeup sits beneath his eyelids, and he wears a long, dark cyan cloak that matches the color of his antennae. Pink fluff wraps around his neck at the thorax area, and his pastel pink wings feature a sharp, angular structure with darker pink clover markings adorning the upper halves. Like his younger sister Flutter, Flyte has no visible arms or mouth, though his wings appear more pointed and avian compared to Flutter's rounder design, which may explain why he can use them for tasks like holding objects or turning valves during extraction. Despite being fully capable of flight — a fact confirmed in the Wilting music video where he is seen flying to grab a crate of eggs — Flyte chooses to walk on foot in most situations, a habit his sister teases him about regularly.

Personality

Flyte is an outgoing, grounded, and compassionate Toon who regularly checks in on others to make sure they are doing well. However, when someone tries to check on him in return or asks certain personal questions, he tends to redirect the conversation. True to the role of a protective older brother, he deeply loves his younger sister Flutter, though his constant worrying sometimes frustrates her. She gets particularly annoyed when he suggests she give her wings a rest, and she retaliates by teasing him about how rarely he uses his own. Their bickering is fairly mild overall, and the affection between them clearly outweighs any friction. His protective instincts extend beyond Flutter as well — he actively looks out for Toons like Cocoa and Rodger, doing his best to keep them from harm.

Descriptions on some of his UGC items mention a snarky streak, though this side of him has rarely if ever been displayed in practice (a possible exception being his back-and-forth with Flutter about their respective flying habits).

Trivia

  • Flyte being Flutter's older brother makes them the fourth pair of in-game Toons with a confirmed biological relationship. Other related Toons include Scraps and Goob (siblings), Razzle & Dazzle (conjoined twins), Cosmo & Ginger (cousins), and Connie & Soulvester (twins).
  • Flyte and Flutter share numerous parallels and contrasts that reinforce their sibling bond.
  • Their names both reference butterfly terminology — a 'flutter' and a 'flight' — as well as ways of describing how they fly.
  • Both have fur around their thoraxes, a trait more commonly associated with moths than butterflies.
  • Their color palettes feature the same combination of pink and turquoise.
  • Flyte's palette inverts Flutter's, using dominant blue with secondary pink rather than the reverse.
  • Their Twisted forms both feature constant movement while roaming the map.
  • Their contrasting body types evoke the classic duo trope: one short and rounded, the other tall and slender.
  • They (along with Rudie) share the same ability sound effect.
  • Both of their abilities involve spinning motions (Flutter drills forward while spinning; Flyte lifts off and creates a tornado with his wings) and Movement Speed boosts (Flutter's is self-only; Flyte's can affect himself and others).
  • Their stats are similar, differing only in that their Stamina and Extraction Speed star values are swapped.
  • Their extraction animations adapt creatively to their lack of arms — Flutter uses a single leg to gently turn the valve, while Flyte uses his wings. This may explain why Flyte extracts faster, since two wings provide better leverage than one foot.
  • Flyte's clover motifs appear to originate from early Flutter concept art, which showed the same clover pattern across her wings.
  • As of the current version, Flyte holds the title of tallest Toon in the game, surpassing Sprout (the previous record holder), Looey, and the Twin Masks.
  • Prior to the v0.8.4 Easter Patch, a bug caused Flyte's Gust to block Twisteds' line of sight entirely, making them stop chasing and preventing ranged Twisteds from using their abilities properly — effectively turning him into a mobile Smoke Bomb.
  • The total Movement Speed gained from Flyte's active ability can be approximated as follows:
  • (10 Walk/20 Run) -> (11.50 Walk/23 Run)
  • (12.50 Walk/22.50 Run) -> (14.375 Walk/25.875 Run)
  • (15 Walk/25 Run) -> (17.25 Walk/28.75 Run)
  • (17.50 Walk/27.50 Run) -> (20.125 Walk/31.625 Run)
  • (20 Walk/30 Run) -> (23 Walk/34.50 Run)
  • Flyte has a minor model error in the form of a small dent on the left side of his head. It is usually hidden during normal gameplay but becomes visible under certain lighting conditions.
  • He shares his unlock requirements with Ginger and Soulvester: 700 of the event currency plus 50% Research on their respective Twisted.
  • Flyte is the fourth Toon based on a living creature (a butterfly) rather than an object. Dandy and Shrimpo were first, Flutter and Shelly second, and Rudie third.
  • He shares several traits with Tisha: nearly identical stats (with Skill Check and Extraction Speed swapped), a predominantly blue color scheme, and active abilities with 50-second cooldowns that boost Movement Speed.
  • Flyte's Luna Moth Skin takes its name and design from the real-world luna moth species. Similarly, Flutter's Rosy Maple Moth Skin is based on the actual rosy maple moth. Combined with their Spring-Time Skins, the siblings have two sets of coordinating cosmetics.
  • The 'Happy Easter!' video appears to show Flyte sleeping while standing upright, though he may simply be leaning against the wall. Either way, Flutter could presumably do the same.
  • Despite appearing in the song Wilting, Flyte — like Eggson — has no vocal lines in the track.
  • His eyeliner is slightly asymmetrical, with one line sitting a bit higher than the other.
