Twisted Rodger
Twisted Rodger is a stationary Uncommon Twisted who specializes in deception. Drawing on the investigative nature of his Toon counterpart, he disguises himself as a Research Capsule and waits patiently for an unsuspecting Toon to attempt to collect him. His fake Capsule is placed on the Floor alongside genuine ones, making visual identification the primary defense against his trap.

Mechanic
Spawns from a fake capsule being picked up, applies Slow III and Confused III when his fake capsule is picked up. Goes idle if not spotting anyone for 15 seconds.
Appearance
Twisted Rodger closely resembles his Toon counterpart Rodger but bears several corrupted alterations. His single magnifying-glass eye is fixed wide open, and the glass lens surrounding it carries a faint red tint that hints at his hostile nature. The handle extending from his head is wrapped with a light purple band, and the tip of the handle is lightly splashed with Ichor. He is dressed in a gray, near-black tuxedo jacket featuring dark purple lapels and cuffs, paired with a crisp white undershirt and a frilly jabot that matches the purple band on his handle. From the waist down, his legs are completely submerged in Ichor, which has hardened around them and rendered him entirely immobile, forcing him to rely on his disguise and ranged laser attack rather than pursuit.
Description
Twisted Rodger is a stationary Uncommon Twisted who specializes in deception. Drawing on the investigative nature of his Toon counterpart, he disguises himself as a Research Capsule and waits patiently for an unsuspecting Toon to attempt to collect him. His fake Capsule is placed on the Floor alongside genuine ones, making visual identification the primary defense against his trap.
When a player interacts with his disguised Capsule, Twisted Rodger immediately inflicts two simultaneous Debuffs on the collector: Slow III and Confused III. These debuffs severely hamper the victim's ability to escape and navigate, buying time for his follow-up attack. He then rises from beneath the floor and charges a laser-like blast that deals one Heart of damage to any Toon caught within its radius. Because he is stationary, he possesses a full 360-degree line of sight, scanning for any Toon that enters his circular detection range of 30 units.
If no Toon remains within his line of sight for 15 seconds after activation, Twisted Rodger loses interest and sinks back down, reverting to his Research Capsule disguise. Each Twisted Rodger can place only one fake Capsule per Floor. His attack is ranged and cannot be blocked by Cardboard Armor, making him a consistent threat regardless of defensive item loadout.
How to Deal With Twisted Rodger
Twisted Rodger shares a key vulnerability with Twisted Razzle & Dazzle: he requires direct line of sight to land his laser attack. His blast radius is moderate and relatively easy to outrun, which also causes him to lose interest if you break line of sight quickly. The primary danger comes from the Slow III Debuff applied when his fake Capsule is collected, which can turn an otherwise simple escape into a desperate scramble. Learning to identify his decoy Capsule before picking it up is the single most important counterplay. Genuine Research Capsules have two tapes wrapped around the center, while his fake Capsule has none. Each Twisted Rodger places only one fake Capsule per Floor, so once it has been identified or triggered, that particular Rodger cannot lay another trap.
Certain Toons handle an accidental pickup far better than others. Flutter's Floaty Dash ability is completely unaffected by the Slow III Debuff, making her the safest Toon if she accidentally triggers his trap, as she can dash away before his rising animation finishes. Rudie's Antler Charge offers a similar but less potent escape option. Ribecca benefits from her Passive Ability, The Undead, which reduces the overall threat of the slowness Debuff, though she still needs to sprint behind cover or away from his attack range to avoid the laser. For Toons without movement abilities, the key is to immediately sprint toward the nearest cover, as his rising animation includes a brief wind-up delay before he can fire.
Trinket and item choices can further mitigate the threat. Slower Toons such as Connie, Shrimpo, or Razzle & Dazzle on even-numbered Floors benefit greatly from carrying a Train Whistle, which can nullify the slowness Debuff entirely upon use. If you accidentally trigger his Capsule while serving as the team's distractor, an Eject Button provides a fast getaway that lets you resume your distracting role almost immediately. However, be aware that the high ejection speed may cause slower Twisteds like Twisted Shrimpo and Twisted Finn to lose sight of you, potentially disrupting the distraction loop.
Detecting Twisted Rodger before he strikes requires indirect methods, since he does not appear when using Vee or Brightney's Active Abilities to scan for Twisteds. If your scan reveals one fewer Twisted than the Floor should contain, Twisted Rodger is almost certainly present. Pebble's Passive Ability and Coal's Active Ability can detect his fake Capsule and flag it as an Item, which may initially cause confusion. However, genuine Research Capsules always come in pairs per Twisted on the Floor, so an odd count of detected Capsules is a strong indicator that one is fake. This counting method works as an early-warning system even on Floors without a duplicate Twisted Rodger to compare against.
Team coordination amplifies all of these strategies. Designate a scout with Pebble or Coal to sweep for Capsule anomalies before the rest of the team collects items. Communicate which Capsules have been verified as real so teammates do not waste time re-checking. On Floors where Twisted Rodger is confirmed, prioritize collecting genuine Capsules first and leave the suspicious one untouched unless the team is prepared to deal with his activation. If the team decides to deliberately trigger him for the 5% encounter Research and aggro Tapes, have a fast Toon with a movement ability do the pickup while the rest of the team stays clear of his blast zone.
Trivia
- Twisted Rodger and Twisted Razzle & Dazzle share a remarkable number of parallels. Both are Uncommon, stationary, male, require Toon activation to attack, feature two distinct states, and possess ranged attacks that bypass Cardboard Armor. They were both released in the game's launch update, and their Toon counterparts share identical stat distributions of 3-Star Skill Check, Stamina, and Stealth. Both have unique Roleplay Mode walking and running animations that match their Toon counterparts. Not counting Dazzle, both their names also start with R.
- He is among the first stationary Twisteds alongside Twisted Razzle & Dazzle, with Twisted Blot being the second and Twisted Squirm being the third. As stationary Twisteds, they all have unique walking and running animations in Roleplay Mode. Twisted Gourdy could also qualify, though only during his passive state.
- Before receiving optimized animations, he left an Ichor trail wherever he moved, which was subsequently removed.
- The sound that plays when his Capsule is picked up is a slightly lower-pitched version of Twisted Glisten's berserk sound, which itself originates from the Find The Path floor in the Roblox game Regretevator.
- His mimicry of Research Capsules thematically reflects his Toon counterpart's detective role and the Detective Passive Ability, which grants Rodger players double Research, including from Capsules.
- Somewhat ironically, while collecting his fake Capsule does not grant the standard 1% Capsule Research, it does award 5% encounter Research for Twisted Rodger. This means repeatedly triggering his fake Capsules actually yields more Research than collecting his legitimate ones.
- In another ironic twist, his fake Capsule lacks the tape wrapping found on real Capsules, yet it awards aggro Tapes, whereas genuine Research Capsules that do have tape wrapping grant no Tapes at all.
- He was among the first Twisteds to apply Debuffs, inflicting both Slow III and Confused III simultaneously when his Capsule is picked up. He shares this distinction with Twisted Astro, who applies Tired III when chasing, and Twisted Vee, who applies Slow II when chasing. The second wave of Debuff-inflicting Twisteds includes Twisted Shelly with Confused I throughout her Floor, and the third is Twisted Finn with Slow III when a Machine is finished. Twisted Bassie's flowers also technically apply Slow III, though the effect is not displayed over the Toon's head.
- He remains the only Twisted that applies two Debuffs at once.
- He is the first non-Main Twisted capable of inflicting Debuffs, with Twisted Finn being the second. Coincidentally, both lack legs, inflict Slow III, and are Uncommon Twisteds.
- His model is pre-loaded beneath the floor when the level generates and only rises into view when a player interacts with his fake Capsule. The model does not simply pop into existence but instead emerges from below.
- His Capsule is not highlighted by the Research Map item.
- He does not count among the Twisteds lacking shadows between their eyes, since he has only a single centered eye. His eye texture does feature a visible bag-like marking, which became more pronounced in v0.13.14 when he was optimized.
- Before optimization, his blast effect was not visible on low-end devices or low graphic settings in Roleplay Mode.
- He was the only Twisted to have an attack face animation before receiving fully optimized animations.
- In his render image, the Research Capsule he holds has a black valve rather than the standard red one, though this could simply be Ichor staining.
- A previous bug allowed players to stand directly on top of him when activated to avoid his detection. This has since been fixed.
- His game code includes an attention span value, which likely refers to the wind-up delay of his laser attack rather than a traditional attention mechanic.
- He is the first Twisted to have two states, being his Capsule form and his Twisted form, alongside Twisted Razzle & Dazzle with their hostile and non-hostile states. The second is Twisted Glisten with passive and enraged states, the third is Twisted Connie with non-possessing and possessing Machine states, the fourth is Twisted Coal with non-Blackout and Blackout Floor behavior, and the fifth is Twisted Gourdy with passive and enraged states.
- He is among the first Twisteds with ranged attack capability, alongside Twisted Goob, Twisted Razzle & Dazzle, and Twisted Scraps. Twisted Sprout was the second, Twisted Gigi the third, Twisted Blot the fourth, and Twisted Squirm technically the fifth. Among these, Twisted Rodger, Twisted Razzle & Dazzle, Twisted Sprout, and Twisted Blot are the only ones whose ranged attacks cannot be blocked by Cardboard Armor.
