Strategy
Goob is best understood as a distractor supporter.
His active ability is Hug!.
Goob is a supporter Toon with excellent mobility and survivability thanks to his 4-star Movement Speed and 4-star Stamina. With speed-boosting Trinkets equipped, he can comfortably out-walk most Common, Uncommon, Rare, and even Main Character Twisteds, with the exceptions of Twisted Pebble, Twisted Gourdy, and Twisted Dyle. His 2-star Stealth -- on par with Toons like Teagan, Vee, and Glisten -- makes him a natural candidate for one of the best distractors in the game.
Goob's greatest asset is his Hug! ability, which lets him pull a teammate toward his position as long as he has line of sight. This opens up a wide range of tactical uses: rescuing a Toon from an approaching Twisted; pulling a Toon into the Elevator during Panic Mode (including AFK players); helping low Movement Speed Toons travel faster; pulling a high Extraction Speed Toon over to a Machine; dragging a Toon out of Twisted Razzle and Dazzle's circle, Twisted Rodger's opened range, or Twisted Blot's hands; pulling Healers or low-Health Toons toward healing Items; and pulling Toons away from Twisted Dyle if he is nearby or chasing. In situations where a Twisted stands between Goob and his target, the pull still works safely since the pulled Toon is invincible during the movement. Note that the ability cancels if line of sight is blocked by an obstacle, and it may activate on a nearby Toon even if no targets are visible on screen, so use caution while being chased.
For items, Goob rarely needs additional speed boosts given his natural mobility. Instead, prioritize stamina-restoring items such as Bottle o' Pop, Pop, Stamina Candy, or Protein Bar to sustain his energy over longer runs. Health items are also critical since being a Distractor means frequent risk of taking hits. Stamina should be preserved for Panic Mode whenever possible. Valve and Jumper Cable are situationally useful at the start of a floor to help your team with Machines before switching to distraction duty.
Trinket Combinations -- Distraction: Dog Plush is the core Trinket for unlocking distraction potential (19.3 walk speed). Pair it with Speedy Shoes to out-walk Twisteds slower than Twisted Toodles and Twisted Shelly (20.2 walk speed); Clown Horn or Ribbon Spool to out-walk even faster Twisteds half the time, best for duo-distracting (21 walk speed); Vanity Mirror to out-run almost all Twisteds during Panic Mode while active (35.75 run speed); Train Whistle to completely nullify the Slow debuff, making Twisted Vee and Ichor Leaks much easier to handle; or Scrapbook to distract without other 2-star Stealth Toons stealing aggro (use only when most players have 2-star Stealth or when solo distracting with a Bobette lacking Diary).
Trinket Combinations -- Extraction and Support: Magnifying Glass lets Goob leverage his 2-star Extraction Speed (0.85) and 3-star Skill Check (100.5 skill check size). Pair it with Vee's Remote for quicker floor progression; Participation Award to maximize Skill Check extraction speed; or Train Whistle to extract without being slowed by Twisted Finn. For ability support, Ghost Snakes In A Can reduces Hug!'s cooldown to 25 seconds, and adding Sweet Charm drops it further to around 22.6 seconds. Despite Goob's main usage as a distractor, his average Skill Check makes him a viable Extractor when needed, and he handles Treadmill Machines with ease.
Appearance
Personality
Goob is a kind, cheery, optimistic, and sociable Toon known for his boundless energy, innocence, and above all his love of giving hugs. His exchanges with Rodger reveal that his hugging is not strategic but stems from a genuine belief that everyone deserves one. He looks up to his older sister Scraps and is very close to her. While his interactions with Rudie and Razzle and Dazzle may suggest naivety, Goob is actually smarter than many realize -- he understands social cues and picks up on the emotions of others rather easily, sometimes catching Toons like Bassie and Sprout off guard. He shows a general desire to make others happy, with or without hugs, and handles emotions with surprising sensitivity, as seen when he politely declines Ginger's cookies due to their taste while reassuring her that he appreciates the gesture. On the outside he seems to live up to his goofy name, but in reality his heart and smarts are balanced evenly, with no desire to show off his intelligence, as he communicates to Vee.

Trivia
- Goob used to be one of four characters which were original characters before being added to Dandy's World. His original name was E.G.G. (Especially Good Guy), his feet looked similar to roller skates, he had a tank filled with an unknown dark liquid on his back, and he even had a human design.
- Goob is the younger brother of Scraps.
- Goob's name may be derived from the word 'goober,' meaning a foolish person. His carefree personality, cross-eyed expression, and slightly clumsy walk fit this characterization, but his understanding and thoughtfulness set him apart from being truly foolish.
- In earlier versions of the game, Goob could intentionally pull Toons from the Elevator into dangerous situations with his ability, causing them to take damage or die. Players caught doing this intentionally could receive a ban under the No Foul Play/Griefing rule. This is no longer possible as of v0.3.
- Shelly and Toodles point out that Goob has sharp teeth, which become much more obvious when he is hurt and are prominently featured on Twisted Goob. He, Yatta, and Eclipse all have sharp teeth, but Goob's are hidden.
- Goob's arms do not highlight when hovered over with an ability, likely because his hands are technically not part of his model. Scraps and her Twisted counterpart share this same quirk.
- According to his dialogue with Rodger, Goob's hugs stem from a genuine belief that whoever he hugs deserves it, despite the last-resort rescue nature the hugs possess in gameplay.
- Goob's 'fingers' are actually claws, confirmed in one of his post-extraction dialogue lines. This makes Goob and Scraps the first Toons with claws, with Gourdy being the second.
- In Roleplay Mode, Goob shares the same room with Scraps due to them being siblings. They and Razzle and Dazzle may be the only related Toons to share a room, since all other related duos include an Event Toon.
- Goob has a unique extraction animation where he flops his hands onto the valve and down repeatedly.
- Originally, Twisted Goob was going to have larger hands, but they were scaled down to their current size, likely for easier modeling and proportions.
- When using his ability, Goob can say 'Come here!' or 'Get over here! Hehe!' -- referencing Scorpion's iconic grapple pull attack from Mortal Kombat.
- If you enter the Art Floor as Goob and go to his area, he will say 'Wowie! The paint I spilled is still here!'
- Goob, Gigi, Ginger, Pebble, and Tisha all have abilities that end with an exclamation mark.
- Unlike Scraps, Goob is not based on any specific animal. However, due to the shape of the fluff on the sides of his head, many believe he has a dog-like design. He does exhibit animal traits such as being fluffy, shedding (mentioned in his interaction with Tisha), and dreaming about chasing his tail (mentioned in his interaction with Astro), as well as having sharp teeth, claws, and paw-like hands.
- Goob is most likely based on a monster, due to his crossed eyes which resemble googly eyes -- something frequently seen in monster-based crafts. He could be inspired by the term 'tickle monster,' with his hugs being somewhat akin to tickling.
- Poppy and Goob seem to be good friends, as they engage in a friendly shouting match in their interaction. Yatta also appears to get along with him, as they also yell each other's names when they see each other.
- Goob may have wobbly hands, as implied in his interaction with Teagan where he mentions dropping the teacup last time. This is further supported by his extraction animation and his Art Floor dialogue about spilling paint.
- Goob is one of four Toons that has a fan-made Skin -- his being Special Spaghetti. The other three are Dapperly Festive Looey, Ebony Detective Rodger, and Choco Cones Yatta.
- After Goob's optimization, his Special Spaghetti Skin's arms were made thinner to resemble spaghetti more.
- Goob's Special Spaghetti skin used to have a glitch where the fluff on top of his head matched the same color as his base skin rather than the pasta sauce color. This was eventually fixed.
- Goob's Special Spaghetti skin is the only Goob skin that does not have a right eye blink texture. Instead, it reuses the left eye blink texture twice when blinking, which is very likely a bug.
- According to Dandy's gossip about Goob, he used to give more hugs than he does now, or rather, he just does not hug Dandy as much anymore.
- Goob is the first and currently only Toon to require only half (3 quests) of another Toon's Mastery. This mirrors how Scraps also needs only half of Twisted Goob's Research.
- Goob is the first Toon to need another Toon for his Active Ability to be used. Scraps was also on this list until her ability was reworked in v0.7.1 to allow grappling onto Machines.
- Goob, Scraps, and Brightney are the last Toons to get optimized. Goob is also the last male Toon to receive this treatment.
- Goob is the only Toon to blink one eye at a time, also referred to as 'frog blinking,' making him the first Toon to have two extra blink textures.
- When Goob uses his Hug! ability with the Special Spaghetti or Neapolitan Skins equipped, his arms become black instead of the actual skin color.
