Twisted Pebble
Twisted Pebble is a hulking, dog-like predator that stomps through the hallways without following any set patrol route, wandering aimlessly until something catches his attention. What makes him particularly dangerous is his extraordinary ability to detect Toons from extreme distances once line of sight is established. His direct vision range of 125 units is among the highest of any Twisted, meaning he can lock onto targets across long corridors and open areas that most players would consider safe distance. Once he spots you, breaking his line of sight immediately is critical, because his chase speed of 24 means he will close the gap with terrifying efficiency, even from far away. For Toons with average or below-average mobility, being caught in open terrain or tight corridors with no nearby cover is often a death sentence.

Appearance
Twisted Pebble is widely considered the most drastically transformed Twisted when compared to his original Toon counterpart. His four legs have been reduced to just two, each replaced by thick cylindrical pillars of solidified Ichor that terminate in light gray feet tipped with three sharpened dark gray claws. His torso takes on a slightly spherical shape with visible flat sides, giving him a bulky, imposing silhouette. A long, dark tendril of hardened Ichor connects his tail to the body, mirroring the same material that forms his legs. His head attaches to the torso through a slightly thicker strand of Ichor, creating a segmented look unlike any other Twisted in the roster. Two jagged rock formations sit atop his head like ears, widely believed to have been repurposed from the two front legs that are absent in his Twisted form, and these rocky protrusions are the lightest shade of gray found anywhere on his body. His mouth resembles that of an actual canine but is packed entirely with rows of sharp, fang-like teeth. He retains the distinctive white clover-shaped cheek markings from his Toon counterpart, a subtle visual nod to Dandy. His eyes maintain their circular shape but now feature menacing red sclera, black irises, and glowing red pupils at the center.
Description
His combination of high speed, long detection range, extended attention span of three seconds, and a massive 200-unit hearing radius makes him one of the most threatening Twisteds in the entire game. Unlike many other dangerous Twisteds, he lacks any special mechanic or debuff ability, but his raw statistics more than compensate. His hearing radius means that failed Skill Checks, Air Horns, and even Pebble's own Speak ability can alert him from enormous distances, potentially drawing him across the entire Floor to your location.
Twisted Pebble produces heavy, muffled footsteps while roaming and aggressive, feral snarls and growls when actively in pursuit. Because his footsteps can be surprisingly subtle and easy to miss, he may catch you completely off guard on Floors you assume are relatively safe. Learning to distinguish his roaming footsteps from his chase audio is an important survival skill, as he only barks and growls continuously while chasing a Toon. If you hear his footsteps accelerate but no barking follows, he is likely heading toward a failed Machine rather than pursuing a player.
How to Deal With Twisted Pebble
Due to his extreme speed, Twisted Pebble is nearly impossible to outwalk and very difficult to outrun for most Toons, making him one of the most lethal threats in the game. Only a handful of specific builds can outwalk him: Looey at 1 Heart or Eclipse during a Blackout with Dog Plush and Ribbon Spool or Clown Horn achieves a 69.4% walk speed multiplier for 25.41 speed, while Pebble, Bassie, and Razzle and Dazzle on odd-numbered Floors with those same Trinkets reach a 21% multiplier for 24.2 speed. These are the only Toons capable of outwalking Twisted Pebble outside Panic Mode, and only barely. Looey at 1 Heart and Eclipse during a Blackout can also manage it with Dog Plush and Speedy Shoes, though only by 0.25 units.
3-Star Movement Speed Toons barely outrun him at 25 versus his 24, while 2-Star Toons at 22.5 and 1-Star Toons at 20 simply cannot keep pace. This is especially problematic for Connie, Razzle and Dazzle on even-numbered Floors, Shrimpo, and Soulvester. Escape Items and Speed Trinkets are essential for survival on any Floor where he appears. Make sharp turns around corners to force him into wider arcs, and hug walls tightly while watching for geometry that could snag your movement. Avoid kiting him around small obstacles since his large model can still clip corners effectively.
Twisted Pebble only barks and growls continuously while actively pursuing a Toon. If you hear his footsteps accelerate but no barking follows, he is likely heading toward a failed Machine rather than a player, so there is no need to panic. His footsteps can be subtle and easy to miss initially, so always listen for barks or growling sounds, particularly during Blackouts when visual detection is limited.
Because Twisted Pebble can detect Toons at great distances through his 125-unit direct vision range, staying out of his line of sight is critical. Avoid lingering in long corridors or open areas where he could spot you from afar. Slower Toons should never risk getting into a chase and should instead stay behind cover at all times, keeping track of his position to prevent surprise encounters. Vee and Brightney's Active Abilities are excellent tools for monitoring his location and planning safe movement routes around the Floor.
If you plan to serve as the distractor for Twisted Pebble, speed Trinkets are practically mandatory. It is technically possible to distract him as a 4 or 5 Star Movement Speed Toon without speed Trinkets, but this is significantly more difficult and leaves almost no margin for error. Speedy Shoes and Dog Plush are the most commonly used options. Having Astro or Tisha on your team helps with Stamina management during extended kiting sessions. The ideal distraction strategy involves finding a sizable island on the Floor and looping around it. Hugging the obstacle tightly forces Twisted Pebble into wider turns, creating distance between you and him. If no suitable island is available, try running or walking in a straight line without changing direction, as Twisted Pebble takes slightly longer to land a hit when moving in a straight path, giving you brief windows to regenerate Stamina. Be aware that whenever Twisted Pebble loses sight of you while you circle an island, he may redirect aggro onto a nearby teammate, so choose distraction spots away from other players or communicate your plans in advance. If other dangerous Twisteds share the Floor, consider having backup distractors available, or accept that Twisted Pebble may need to roam freely while you handle the lesser threats. A 4-Star Movement Speed Toon can kite Twisted Pebble, but only him alone, as other Twisteds may peel off and threaten teammates.
When solar distracting alongside a Bobette, a 4-Star Movement Speed Toon with at least Dog Plush can outwalk Twisted Pebble by a razor-thin 0.06 units. Adding Speedy Shoes extends this margin to 1.26 units, and Clown Horn or Ribbon Spool pushes it to 2.47 units for a more comfortable buffer. If your Toon and Trinket combination allows you to outwalk Twisted Pebble by any margin, you can opt for a large circular path around an island instead of tight corner-hugging. This approach requires minimal sprint tapping to maintain Stamina until Panic Mode and makes it easier to hold Twisted Pebble's attention consistently. This is particularly effective during solar distraction with Bobette, since tight corners risk getting her hurt, and the wider path lets her provide her speed boost more reliably.
Exercise extra caution during Ichor Leaks, as Twisted Pebble's massive 200-unit hearing range synergizes dangerously with the Illness III Debuff from Ichor puddles, making failed Skill Checks far more likely to draw his attention. The Slow I Debuff from the puddles compounds the danger by making it nearly impossible to escape his already extreme speed. Distractors should equip Train Whistle or be otherwise immune to Ichor Leaks to mitigate this compounding threat.
During Panic Mode, Twisted Pebble becomes faster than nearly every Toon without Suppression, approaching the run speed of his Toon counterpart, Bassie, Razzle and Dazzle on odd-numbered Floors, Looey at 2 Hearts, and Eclipse during a Blackout. The only Toons who can outrun him in Panic Mode are Looey at 2 to 1 Hearts, Eclipse during a Blackout, or any 5-Star Movement Speed Toon. For everyone else, fleeing is futile or extremely risky if he is nearby. With Suppression, 4-Star Movement Speed Toons can manage to outrun him, though Stamina-limited Toons like Gourdy or Yatta must be careful. Ideally, reach the elevator before Panic Mode begins. If spotted, either rush the elevator immediately, break line of sight, or hope he is far enough away to not close the gap. Facing Twisted Vee simultaneously is especially punishing, as her Slow II Debuff makes it even easier for Twisted Pebble to catch you. While Tisha's pulse can temporarily counter this on Pebble, Twisted Vee reapplies her Debuff more frequently than Tisha's cooldown allows. Vanity Mirror offers a small 5% boost that can help maintain distance, and Train Whistle is the strongest option since it grants full slow immunity while still letting you outrun him.
On the positive side, despite being a Main Twisted, he lacks any special mechanic that directly hinders your team, so proper avoidance and awareness can neutralize much of his threat. His danger is purely statistical rather than mechanical, which means teams that maintain good positioning and sight-line discipline can handle him without needing specialized counters beyond speed Trinkets.
Trivia
- Up until v0.11.1, Twisted Pebble held the title of fastest Twisted in the game before being surpassed by Twisted Dyle.
- However, since Twisted Dyle's speed varies, Pebble still retained the fastest consistent speed among all Twisteds for some time.
- He was later surpassed again by Twisted Gourdy, dropping to third fastest. Even so, because Twisted Gourdy has a passive immobile state, Pebble remained the fastest standard Twisted with consistent speed.
- In v0.15.19, his chase speed was nerfed from 25 to 24, putting him on par with Twisted Glisten. However, since Twisted Glisten also has a passive state, Twisted Pebble is now effectively outranked by Twisted Bobette and Twisted Coal during Blackouts.
- Twisted Pebble is nearly impossible to outwalk for almost every Toon, with the only exceptions being Looey at 1 Heart, Eclipse in a Blackout, and 5-Star Movement Speed Toons using Dog Plush combined with Clown Horn, Ribbon Spool, or a Lucky Coin with the Movement Speed buff.
- His long-range detection ability mirrors his Toon counterpart's Speak! ability, which alerts Twisteds to his location at the cost of drastically reduced Stealth.
- He was the first Main Twisted that does not inflict any Debuffs on Toons, followed by Twisted Sprout, Twisted Bobette, and Twisted Gourdy.
- Twisted Pebble was the first Main Twisted to appear on the Daily Twisted Board, the first to be featured on a thumbnail, and the first to receive animation updates in v0.7.1 after his initial release. His Toon counterpart also received new animations in the same patch.
- His footstep sounds were adjusted to match his updated animations in that same update.
- Before the footstep audio was synced to the new animations, many players mistakenly believed his Movement Speed had been nerfed. The confusion stemmed from the sound effects not aligning properly with his stride, though his actual speed remained unchanged.
- Another common misconception about a speed nerf arose from the remodel's hitbox change, which caused him to interact differently with obstacles during kiting. This made him appear slower, though his speed was the same.
- This hitbox issue was corrected in v0.15.1.
- Twisted Pebble and Twisted Coal are the only Twisteds whose designs show no visible Ichor marks, aside from the black connecting strands on their limbs and head, which are likely Ichor in a solidified form.
- This has led to speculation that their transformation into Twisteds may have occurred through a different process than other characters.
- Twisted Pebble's aggressive growling audio originates from an external video source at approximately the 0:15 timestamp, with bitcrushed editing applied.
- He is the only Twisted that continuously produces a non-footstep sound while in pursuit.
- His spotting sound is a slowed-down version of the audio that plays when his Toon counterpart activates his Active Ability.
- Twisted Pebble, Twisted Coal, and Twisted Blot are the only optimized Twisteds that lack attack face animations, due to Pebble and Coal having fully 3D-modeled faces and Blot's attack method not involving his body directly.
- He is currently the only Main Twisted without an actual special ability, likely because his elevated stats already make him sufficiently dangerous.
- The rock formations on his head that resemble ears have no equivalent on his Toon counterpart. They are widely believed to originate from his missing front legs, as Pebble has four legs in Toon form but only two as a Twisted. The same logic applies to Twisted Coal.
- He previously had a bug causing excessive Ichor to leak from his body, which was fixed in v0.12.5.
- A separate audio bug caused his sound effects to become extremely loud and bass-boosted to the point of causing physical discomfort. His footsteps were temporarily muted as an emergency fix while developers isolated the issue. This was resolved in v0.12.7 with completely new footstep audio, which was then revised again in v0.13.12 because the replacement sounds were too quiet relative to other Main Twisteds. This makes him the second Twisted to have his sound design changed, after Twisted Sprout, and the only one to have his sound design changed more than once.
