Strategy
Astro is best understood as a survivalist supporter.
His active ability is Nap Time.
Astro's passive ability is Well Rested.
Astro excels at Stealth and supporting others, making it essential to capitalize on these strengths given his below-average Health as a Main Character. With the highest Stealth stat in the game, Astro can safely approach Toons being chased by Twisteds, activate Nap Time to fully restore their Stamina, and slip away undetected. After escaping a Twisted, his passive ability Well Rested kicks in with 3.6/s Stamina regeneration, allowing him to recover much faster than most Toons.
His primary weaknesses are low Health (only 2 HP as a Main Character), a well-rounded but unexceptional stat spread aside from Stealth, and below-average extraction capability. Unlike other Main Character Toons, Astro does not particularly excel at extracting Machines but can handle them adequately. The optimal approach is to fully exploit his superior Stealth to avoid being chased in the first place, minimizing damage taken while completing risky Machines right under Twisteds' noses. As long as a Twisted has its eyes on someone else (besides Connie, who matches his Stealth), it will effectively never re-target onto Astro unless he is the only viable target left. That said, his higher Stamina regeneration means he can last a bit longer than other Toons in a chase if managed well — do not hesitate to draw a Twisted off a struggling teammate when the opportunity arises.
For Items, Astro does not need many Stamina boosts thanks to Well Rested acting as a permanent Stamina Candy. While Stamina Candies are still useful (the buffs stack multiplicatively), it is better to leave them for teammates early on. Prioritize mobility-enhancing Items so you are not caught off guard, and extraction-boosting Items such as Extraction Speed Candies and Instructions to compensate for his weaker Skill Check stats. For healing, Bandages should be prioritized over Health Kits since Astro only has 2 max HP as a Main Character — leave Health Kits for non-Main teammates unless you are in urgent need.
Well Rested's secondary effect — seeing Toons below 50% Stamina on the map along with their exact percentage — should be used to monitor teammates similarly to Sprout's Overprotective ability. Watch movement patterns to determine if allies need aid. A high-Stamina Toon like Sprout can wait until the 30% mark, while a low-Stamina Toon like Shrimpo may need immediate attention. Also factor in Movement Speed stats and the skill levels of both teammates and pursuing Twisteds when deciding whether to intervene. When waiting near the Elevator, use Well Rested to spot teammates running low on Stamina, but remember that Nap Time can only be used once during Panic Mode — pay attention to who is still missing and how long they tend to take. Additionally, Nap Time permeates barriers, so if you cannot run around an obstacle in time, get as close to your targets as possible and activate it through the wall. This is especially useful when supporting teammates distracting Twisted Pebble — avoid entering line of sight and use stickers to communicate your intent.
For trinket loadouts, Astro benefits greatly from mobility sets. Pink Bow paired with Speedy Shoes gives 28.2 run speed, while Pink Bow with Vanity Mirror provides 35 run speed during Panic Mode — enough to outrun every Twisted except Twisted Dyle. Friendship Bracelet synergizes well with Well Rested by granting bonus Stamina capacity per living teammate, rewarding you for keeping allies alive with Nap Time. For extraction-focused builds, Magnifying Glass takes advantage of his 3-star Extraction Speed and can be paired with Vee's Remote for faster Floor progression or Participation Award for maximum Skill Check extraction. For pure support, Ghost Snakes In A Can reduces Nap Time's cooldown to 55 seconds, and adding Sweet Charm brings it down further to around 50 seconds. If Blackouts give you trouble, use Skins with white or light-colored glow radii — Vintage, Bedtime Bear, or the default Skin — for better visibility in the dark.
Astro and Dandy
Astro is often searched alongside Dandy because their lore and dialogue suggest a long-standing connection inside Dandy's World.
Appearance
Personality
Astro is an introverted, shy, and calm Toon who enjoys interacting with his fellow Toons but prefers not to lead conversations. He values peace and quiet, and can become agitated or standoffish when disturbed — though he is rarely truly annoyed by his friends, with Connie being a notable exception. He speaks formally but can easily break that composure when irritated. Despite his reserved nature, Astro has a slight playful and teasing side, such as when he mockingly suggested Rodger pick up extra hobbies. He is open to helping friends with their problems, especially those involving dreams, and possesses the ability to give Toons dreams of his choosing. However, he tends to back off when his help is rejected, as seen in his interaction with Scraps, and he quiets down when faced with emotional outbursts like Bassie's. When Glisten grew insistent on discussing Astro's own problems, Astro quickly caved in and asked to put the conversation on hold. Conversely, he sometimes dismisses attempts by others to help him or offer him things, as shown in interactions with Cosmo and Squirm, preferring instead to focus on taking care of others. Astro appears to be camera-shy and dislikes being the center of attention or stared at, as evidenced by his interactions with Coal and Looey, the episode 'Astro in Stage Fright,' and the Gardenview rules that disallow photography of him. He can also be skeptical of other Toons' eccentricities — Eclipse's boisterous attempts to befriend him make him uncomfortable, and he finds Finn and Shelly's fixations on their specific interests, even dreaming about them constantly, to be odd. His self-doubt sometimes leads him to double-check his own thoughts, as shown in his interaction with Looey. He enjoys sitting down with hot chocolate or iced tea from time to time and participates in Brightney's Book Club alongside Dazzle.

Trivia
- Astro's designation is M-002, with the M likely standing for Main Character.
- Astro's Toon Handler is Austin Russo.
- Astro's speech sound originates from Deltarune, specifically the sound that plays upon entering the Dark Worlds in Chapter 2.
- Astro is a part of Brightney's Book Club alongside Dazzle. Razzle does not participate in the club's activities and instead sleeps for the duration.
- Based on a 1988 photo found on the Greenhouse Floor, Astro and Dandy are heavily implied to be childhood friends. Their friendship is stated to be healthy, even after Gardenview's downfall.
- A picture found on the official merchandise website shows Dandy and Astro looking at stars, seemingly in the Gardenview Lobby before it was painted and possibly before Gardenview opened.
- Multiple dialogue exchanges with Pebble, Teagan, Vee, and Sprout suggest Astro and Dandy still talk to each other during the Ichor operation, though not all Toons appreciate this.
- According to his dialogue with Connie, Astro and Dandy often chat about past episodes together, much to her lack of amusement.
- It is theorized that Astro caught Dandy in his Twisted form, based on Astro's obtainment requirements, Dandy's dialogue when purchasing Astro from the shop (Dandy simply says '...'), and his dialogue with Pebble.
- While never explicitly stated in-universe or by the developers, Astro has four arms. This was once only implied by his Twisted counterpart's appearance and his interaction with Tisha, but is now confirmed by his official plushie.
- He has many motifs themed around outer space, astronomy, and magic. His name is a prefix used to describe stars and celestial bodies, his face resembles the moon, and he possesses telekinesis and oneirokinesis (dream manipulation).
- The flash of a camera severely hinders healthy sleep, which explains his aversion to photography.
- His four arms, magical powers, and outer space motifs vaguely (but likely unintentionally) imply he might be an alien. His connection with Dandy could also be a reference to aliens and their interest in Earth.
- Astro can glow in the dark, and the stars seen in his extraction, active ability, and idle animations are kept inside his body. Before his optimization in v0.12.1, they were stored in his head.
- In v0.13.14, Astro's active ability cooldown was decreased from 75 seconds to 60, and his passive ability gained the ability to see the exact Stamina percentage of Toons below 50%.
- Astro used to have 2-star Movement Speed before being bumped to 3 stars in v0.2. His active ability also originally restored only 50% Stamina.
- Astro is the first Main Character that does not require Mastery on a Toon to be obtained, and remains the only base game Main Character with this distinction.
- Astro's full name, Astro Novalite, was confirmed alongside Twisted Connie's concept art after a Pokemon guessing game was played during a stream.
- Astro enjoys sitting down and drinking hot chocolate, and also likes iced tea according to his Teagan interaction.
- After v0.12.1, Astro's design was slightly changed to include the black shorts seen in his Main Poster. His in-game plushie was not updated to reflect this, though his Care Bear plushie does include the shorts.
- Astro does not want to get changed out of his blanket due to how cozy he finds it, as seen in his interaction with Brusha.
- Astro has more than one nightcap, as shown in dialogue between him and Gigi.
- Astro is the only Main Character that released in v0.1 to appear in the game icon.
- Astro is the only Main Character and the second Toon overall (after Scraps) whose requirement includes encountering a specific Twisted who is not their own Twisted counterpart, making him the only Toon to require Research on two specific Twisteds.
- He requires the lowest Research of a single requirement — only 1% on Twisted Dandy — meaning it is not necessary to be seen by Twisted Dandy to obtain Astro.
- Astro once attempted to breakdance but got hurt doing so, and has never tried it again.
- Astro is one of three Main Characters to be in the game on release, alongside Pebble and Vee.
- Astro and Connie share several similarities: they are the only Toons with 5-star Stealth, their light radius is the same, and their Twisted counterparts both appear to have sad expressions and cry.
- Some of Astro's code was used to make Connie, which accidentally carried over the 50% Stamina regeneration from Well Rested into Connie's code. This was later fixed.
- Astro is the only Main Character to not have double letters in their full name.
- Astro, Shrimpo, and Shelly are among the few Toons to have received Skins in the 2025 Care Bears Collab, which will never be unlockable again.
- Astro is the first Toon to wear a hat by default.
- Astro's relationship with Boxten is implied to be a fluctuating one based on the lore notes and their interactions.
- Astro appears to be friends with Vee, Razzle and Dazzle, and Brightney, as implied by their dialogue.
- Astro is the final Main Character alongside Shelly to be optimized post-release, receiving his optimizations in v0.12.1.
- Before its release, Astro's Starry Night Skin had a slight model difference where his normal eye was looking in the direction of his star eye instead of looking forward like the rest of his models.
- Players using Astro used to experience chat bubbles appearing astronomically higher than normal, especially with his Star-Time Skin, because Roblox included the actual size of his hat without the mesh as part of his height.
- The most likely reason Astro has four arms is so that he can use his magic with one set while holding his blanket with the other set.
- When purchasing Astro from the shop, Dandy simply says '...', which may imply Astro knows exactly what happened during the Ichor incident but is afraid to bring it up.
