Strategy

Rudie is best understood as a survivalist.

His active ability is Antler Charge.

Rudie is an evenly balanced Survivalist with uniform 3-star stats across the board, making him a solid pick for players who want a versatile, all-purpose Toon. His active ability, Antler Charge, increases his Movement Speed by 50 units for a short burst, boosting him to 65 Walk Speed and 75 Run Speed. This is invaluable for escaping corners, dodging Twisteds, or dashing into the Elevator during Panic Mode before the timer runs out. His well-rounded stat spread means he does not excel in any single area, but he also has no exploitable weaknesses, making him a reliable choice for players who prefer flexibility over specialization.

With a remarkably short 23-second cooldown (the shortest Active Ability cooldown in the game, excluding Bassie), Antler Charge is available frequently throughout each round. Pairing it with Ghost Snakes In A Can further reduces the cooldown, and adding Rehearsal/Practice Cards can push it down to approximately 13 seconds, allowing you to refresh the speed boost almost as soon as it ends. At maximum cooldown reduction using Ghost Snakes In A Can, Sweet Charm, and Rehearsal/Practice Cards together, the cooldown drops to roughly 6.2 seconds, giving Rudie near-constant access to his dash. Peppermint Icing is an especially strong Trinket choice, since the frequent ability activations also restore Stamina, letting Rudie sprint longer and escape more consistently. The synergy between Ghost Snakes In A Can and Peppermint Icing is particularly noteworthy: the cooldown reduction means more frequent Stamina recovery, creating a self-sustaining loop where Rudie can sprint, dash, recover Stamina, and repeat.

For survivability-focused builds, Pink Bow enables Rudie to outrun all Twisteds outside of Panic Mode except Twisted Dyle at max speed, reaching 26.9 Run Speed. Adding Speedy Shoes on top further boosts Run Speed to 28.1, while Vanity Mirror lets him outrun every Twisted except Twisted Dyle even during Panic Mode with 35 Run Speed. Any of these survivability Trinkets can be mixed with extraction Trinkets for a hybrid build. For extraction-focused builds, Magnifying Glass takes full advantage of his 3-star Extraction Speed (boosting to 1.06) and Skill Check (reaching 100.5 Skill Check size), and pairs well with Vee's Remote for faster floor progression or Participation Award to maximize Skill Check extraction output at 25.57 average (or 23.26 with Tech Savvy). Spare Bulb is another worthwhile option to increase Rudie's light radius for maximum visibility, though it may cause slight performance lag on older devices.

Rudie can also serve as a decent distractor thanks to his short cooldown and strong speed burst. Equipping Dog Plush alongside cooldown-reducing Trinkets and Cards enables a distractor playstyle, though it should be noted that even with Dog Plush, Rudie is only able to out-walk Twisted Shrimpo at best. Players looking for a dedicated distractor may prefer Flutter, who has a longer and more powerful ability better suited to that role. One important limitation to keep in mind is that Rudie's Antler Charge cannot be used to walk past Twisted Rodger when he is activated, so players should plan alternate escape routes when Twisted Rodger is present on a floor.

For solo long runs, consider a Magnifying Glass plus Train Whistle combination to extract without being slowed by Twisted Finn, avoiding the risk of Twisted Vee or Twisted Finn interference on higher floors. This setup lets Rudie focus on Machine extraction without needing to worry about speed-reducing Twisteds, which becomes increasingly important as floor difficulty scales. In team settings, Rudie's balanced stats and frequent dashes make him an excellent all-rounder who can fill gaps in a team composition, whether that means helping with extractions, scouting ahead with his dash, or serving as a secondary distractor when the primary distractor is on cooldown.

If you do not have access to Rudie, Flutter is a strong alternative with a longer and more powerful dash ability, though her cooldown is higher and she leans more toward distracting. Poppy shares the same stat distribution and offers a Movement Speed boost ability, though hers is situational and does not provide the same on-demand burst that Antler Charge does. Ultimately, Rudie's core strength lies in the sheer frequency of his ability activations, and building around that cooldown advantage with the right Trinket and Card combinations is the key to maximizing his potential.

Appearance

Rudie is an anthropomorphic, rather chubby brown reindeer Toon with unguligrade legs, making him the first bipedal Toon whose legs are not plantigrade in nature. He has a large, prominent red nose that serves as one of his most recognizable features, drawing a direct visual parallel to Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. Lighter patches of brown cover his face, the insides of his ears, and his torso, creating a natural two-tone fur pattern. His hooves, spots, and the fur around his neck are a noticeably deeper, darker shade of brown that contrasts with his lighter body. Sitting atop his head are a pair of distinctive red and white candy cane-striped antlers, which add a festive flair to his overall design. Interestingly, despite being stated to be male, real male reindeer shed their antlers during winter months while females retain theirs, making his permanently antlered appearance a playful departure from biological accuracy. During Blackout events, Rudie's red nose emits a glowing red light, distinguishing him as one of the few Toons whose glow color differs from the standard. One of his renders for the Ornament store also implies that he knows how to juggle, adding a playful detail to his character.

Personality

As conveyed through his dialogue and introduction poster, Rudie is an extraordinarily cheerful and festive Toon who is convinced that every day is Christmas. He is an extreme enthusiast of the holiday, to the point of becoming genuinely upset when anyone denies that it is Christmas. This persistent belief may stem from how Event Toons naturally become inactive outside of winter, leaving him in a constant state of holiday anticipation. According to Bobette's Gossip, Rudie had this same habit during the Show, suggesting his perpetual Christmas delusion may simply be a personality trait he never outgrew from his original role. His mood is perpetually jolly, and he takes every opportunity to share his festive enthusiasm with those around him.

Trivia

  • Rudie is one of the first Holiday Toons added to the game, along with Bobette, Coal, and Ginger. He is also the first male Holiday Toon to be released, and the only male Christmas Toon.
  • He is the first bipedal Toon whose legs are not plantigrade in nature (unguligrade/hoofed), with the second being Cocoa and the third being Eclipse. Coincidentally, all three are Holiday Toons from different Events. He is the only Common and male Toon with this trait.
  • His unwavering belief that every day is Christmas may be connected to how Event Toons naturally isolate themselves when it is not winter. However, according to Bobette's Gossip, Rudie had this habit during the Show, suggesting his constant delusion may simply be because he never left his original personality as a Christmas enthusiast.
  • Rudie, Flutter, and Flyte share the same Ability activation sound effect.
  • Rudie was the first Holiday Toon to be teased prior to his Event's release.
  • Rudie, Boxten, Eggson, Poppy, and Ribecca share the same stat distribution of 3 stars in every category (15 evenly divided stars). Rudie is the only one of these five Toons to have an Active Ability.
  • Rudie has the shortest Active Ability cooldown in the game (excluding Bassie). When equipping Rehearsal/Practice Cards with Ghost Snakes In A Can and Sweet Charm, the cooldown drops to approximately 6.2 seconds.
  • Both his visual design and name are heavily based on Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, the iconic Christmas character.
  • Despite being stated to be male, male reindeer shed their antlers during winter months, while females retain theirs.
  • One of his renders for the Ornament store implies that he knows how to juggle.
  • Rudie is the third Toon in the game to be an actual living thing rather than an object (being a reindeer), with the first being Dandy and Shrimpo, the second being Flutter and Shelly, the fourth being Flyte, and the fifth being Eclipse.
  • Rudie is the only Christmas Toon to not receive any Ability changes or reworks in the 2025 Christmas Event.
  • If you enter the Lore Room on the Seasonal Room as Rudie, he will say 'Woah...', making him the third Toon with dialogue outside of the Elevator, Ability use, or Machine extraction, with the first being Vee and the second being Gourdy. Rudie and the other non-Main Christmas Toons are the first Toons to have these dialogues in a Lore Room that is not theirs (being Bobette's), and the first non-Main Character Toons to have Lore Room dialogues.
  • Sometimes, there will be a bug where Rudie has an apparent Passive Ability, despite his Ability being classified as Active.
  • Rudie and Ginger are the first Toons to have exclusive Golden Skin Quests.
  • Rudie's Antler Charge Ability cannot be used to walk past Twisted Rodger when he is activated.
  • Rudie is one of the three first Toons to have official voices, which appeared in The Perfect Christmas song, with his voice actor being AXIE. The other two Toons with voices are Bobette and Ginger.
  • Rudie, Ginger, and Coal are the sixth Toons to appear in 2 separate thumbnails, appearing in the v0.14 and v0.14.10 thumbnails.
  • Some time during the 2026 Easter Event, Rudie's Ability description was changed to be more ambiguous about its effects, removing the cooldown, potency, and duration from the description.
