Bassie

ABOUT BASSIE

Appearance

Bassie resembles a light tan wicker basket featuring two darker brown handles protruding from either side. Beneath her eyes sit two small eyelashes, and her mouth forms a petite, cat-like grin. The interior of her head overflows with pressed flowers in shades of purple and pink, accented by yellow pistils, with green leaves peeking out from the edges. She wears a purple tank top paired with a bell-shaped skirt crafted from four pink flower petals. Her legs are covered by green and light green striped stirrup socks.

Personality

Bassie is a nervous and self-conscious Toon, which is immediately apparent from the way she fidgets during her idle animation. She harbors feelings of envy toward Cocoa, who enjoys widespread fan popularity and was considered the stronger candidate for the Easter Main role, as noted by Delilah Keen in a letter to Arthur. That said, Bassie does not actually despise Cocoa. In the "Wilting" music video, she can be seen embracing Cocoa and seemingly preparing a gift for her. Her interactions with Cocoa, as well as the Gossip dialogue about her, reveal anxiety and jealousy rather than genuine hatred. In her Gossip about Shrimpo, she expresses genuine concern and protectiveness for all the Easter Toons, referring to them as "friends." However, a breaking point arrives when she discovers the enormous quantity of Cocoa plushies that were manufactured, a privilege typically reserved for Main Characters. This revelation, combined with her already fragile emotional state, triggers an overwhelming surge of anger and sorrow that ultimately leads to her transformation into Twisted Bassie.

Her dialogues reveal an unsettling habit of laughing uncontrollably whenever she feels she is failing to meet others' expectations, a behavior that tends to unsettle or confuse fellow Toons. Bassie frequently measures herself against the other "Main" Toons, expressing wishes to be as compassionate as Sprout and as clever as Vee, possibly driven by a deep fear of being replaced. She is acutely aware that if anyone were to take her place, it would be Cocoa, a concern further reinforced in her exchange with Bobette.

Bassie can also become quite vocal and defensive when certain sensitive topics come up, as demonstrated in her conversation with Astro. She quickly apologizes after raising her voice, indicating that her outbursts are not intentional but rather something she struggles to control.

As reflected in her descending and Machine completion lines, along with her Gossips about Gigi and Pebble, she makes every effort to be useful. She reassures herself that she is contributing meaningfully, but when she fails to complete a task independently, she begins to spiral emotionally. Despite this fragility, Bassie can hold firm in her convictions. For instance, she declines Flutter's request to tell Flyte not to worry so much about her, believing it is a private family matter.

Bassie also deals with significant social anxiety that frequently causes her to lose composure or make mistakes. This anxiety manifests as an outwardly cold demeanor and involuntary bouts of laughter. She constantly tries to maintain a calm exterior, but beneath the surface lies an overwhelming amount of pressure.

STRATEGIES
On the surface, Bassie appears suited for the distractor role, sharing identical Movement Speed and Stamina values with Pebble. However, her unique Abilities and 4 Stealth make her far more effective as a survivalist and support Toon rather than a dedicated distractor. That said, she can serve as a backup distractor depending on your team's overall Stealth composition and experience level. Her excellent mobility stats, Stealth, and bonus Item slot make her an outstanding survivalist. Given Bassie's extremely poor Extraction Speed and Skill Check stats, it is advisable to steer clear of Machines in most cases and instead channel her strong survivability to benefit the team. The exception is Treadmill Machines, where Bassie is among the very best extractors thanks to her exceptional mobility stats. She can also contribute to Duo Machines, ideally only if you are proficient at landing her very small Skill Checks, since her low Extraction Speed combined with a partner's would still reach a respectable total roughly equivalent to 5 Stars. Her Abilities grant four inventory slots and allow her to drop Items without any penalty, making Bassie a superb team supporter who opens up new tactical options for approaching Floors. Her primary value lies in stockpiling Items for upcoming Floors or distributing critical supplies like Box o' Chocolates, Health Kits, or Smoke Bombs to teammates who need them most. Providing Items that shore up teammates' weaknesses is highly effective. For example, giving Rodger a Speed Candy, or picking up seemingly low-value Items so that a Sprout or Ginger can accumulate more Tapes. Another strong tactic is gathering all available Items on a Floor and depositing them at strategic locations: Skill Check Candy and Extraction Speed Candy beside incomplete Machines, and everything else near the Elevator for teammates to grab during Panic Mode. If Twisted Gigi is present on the Floor, stashing your valuable Items in a safe spot or near the Elevator entrance prevents them from being stolen. When that is not feasible, reorganizing your inventory preemptively or donating Items to a teammate works as an alternative. Stamina, Speed, and survival Items should be placed along kiting loops or handed directly to struggling Toons and active distractors, particularly after they use an Item and free up inventory space. These supplies are also valuable for low-mobility Toons recovering from a chase, as they may need an immediate boost. Surplus Items can be left near the Elevator for last-minute pickups. Placing them near Treadmill Machines also helps Toons complete those objectives faster. Regarding healing supplies, Bassie should deliver Bandages and Health Kits to distractors so they can remain in their loops without interruption. She functions as a mobile storage unit for these Items, similar to Cosmo, even though she cannot split Health Kits. She should always purchase healing Items when the opportunity arises. As a general guideline, Bassie should prioritize Bandages while Cosmo focuses on Health Kits if both are in the game, but distributing these Items between both Toons ensures more efficient access for the whole team. When uncertain, Bassie can always pass Items to Cosmo later, and her faster pickup speed and larger inventory make her an effective secondary storage. Extraction Items can either be delivered to teammates you observe working on Machines or held for your own use. Jumper Cables and Valves provide equal value regardless of who uses them. You can sprint to a Machine near a distractor and use them on the spot, saving other Toons the trip and reducing the time they need to spend in dangerous areas.
TRIVIA
  • Bassie is the third Main Toon requiring players to reach Floor 20 for her Mastery, following Pebble and Bobette.
  • When she was first released, Bassie's Active Ability was incorrectly labeled as a Passive Ability, which was later corrected.
  • This happened because Main Character Toons are expected to have one Passive Ability.
  • Notably, the Trinket Peppermint Icing does not activate when she uses her Ability.
  • This made Bassie the first Main Character, and the first Toon overall, to possess 2 Passive Abilities.
  • She is the only Event Main Toon who did not have more than one Stat at 5 Stars when initially added to the game. Gourdy permanently has 5 Stars in two Stats, and Bobette formerly had 5 Stars in two Stats before one Skill Check Star was redistributed to Movement Speed.
  • In her conversation with Glisten, Bassie reveals that her favorite flowers are tulips, hyacinths, and lilies.
  • Interestingly, all three of these flowers are toxic to rabbits, which could symbolize her complicated feelings toward the rabbit-like Cocoa, though this may be coincidental.
  • Furthermore, yellow hyacinths traditionally symbolize jealousy, envy, and contempt, themes that connect directly to Delilah's plan to replace Bassie with Cocoa as Easter Main Character.
  • Based on her interactions and Gossips, her closest friends appear to be Flyte, Shelly, Eggson, and possibly Glisten.
  • Her dynamic with Cocoa is one-sided; Bassie views Cocoa not as a friend but rather as a competitor.
  • A common misconception holds that Bassie "hates" Cocoa, but this is inaccurate. Evidence such as the hug in the "Wilting" music video and the absence of overt hostility until the very end demonstrates that Bassie's feelings are rooted in intense jealousy rather than genuine hatred.
  • She is the first Toon whose Active Ability has no cooldown whatsoever.
  • Rapidly pressing the Active Ability button immediately completes one of her 6 Mastery quests and awards an instant 5 Ichor per use each floor.
  • Bassie is also the only Toon who remains silent when activating their Active Ability.
  • This silence is likely why Peppermint Icing does not trigger, since enabling rapid Stamina regeneration would effectively grant her unlimited Stamina.
  • She is the second Holiday Toon to require Ichor as part of her cost, after Bobette and before Gourdy.
  • All three are Event Main Toons sharing identical unlock requirements of 3000 of their respective Event's Currency, 2500 Ichor, and 100% Research on their Twisted counterpart.
  • Bassie is the third Toon to have just 1 Skill Check, joining Shrimpo (first), Cosmo (second), and later Blot (fourth).
  • Her fear of being replaced by Cocoa as Easter Main is foreshadowed through an interaction with Bobette and a note from Delilah found on the Easter Floor.
  • This concern likely stems from Cocoa's more outgoing, confident, and sociable nature, which makes her more appealing to the children at Gardenview.
  • This theme is echoed in the release of her official plush, which launched alongside a Cocoa plush. In a promotional image on the merchandise site, the Cocoa plush occupies the center position while Bassie's is placed to the side.
  • Bassie shares several visual similarities with Cocoa, including brown skin and 2 eyelashes on the underside of their eyes. Their mouth shapes are comparable, though Cocoa's has more of a wavy smile while Bassie's appears more feline or rabbit-like. Bassie's basket handles could even be interpreted as resembling bunny ears, though this may be unintentional.
  • At launch, Bassie's Skill Check size appeared to be roughly 4 Stars due to an erroneous 135 Skill Check size value, which was subsequently fixed.
  • Bassie and Pebble are currently the only two Toons who have achieved 5 Star Movement Speed.
  • Along with the other Holiday Main Characters, they are the only Main Characters without an assigned Toon Handler.
  • Her interaction with Gigi confirms that Bassie collects pressed flowers. This hobby is further supported by her dialogue with Flyte, the pressed flowers visible inside her head, and her Gossip about Flyte.
  • In Bassie's Store, if the player has purchased a Toon License for every Easter Toon except Bassie, her smile changes to a sad frown. Purchasing her afterward causes a brief look of confusion followed by happiness.
  • Her official plushie differs slightly from her in-game model, notably missing the green socks she normally wears.
  • The Fishing Rod item grants Bassie 4 random Items instead of the usual 3, thanks to her Passive Ability.
  • Her dialogue with Brightney suggests that Bassie may have a fear of the dark.
  • {"She has 2 distinct idle animations"=>"one where she touches her basket handle and another where she brushes off her skirt, comparable to Bobette's idle."}
  • This makes her the third Toon with 2 idle animations, after Glisten (first) and Yatta (second), with Blot being the fourth.
  • Bassie and Blot currently hold the position of second-slowest extractors in the game, with only Shrimpo being slower.
  • Her last name, Bloomington, was confirmed by Qwel during a stream on June 14, 2025, making her the first Event Main Character to have their surname revealed.
  • Bassie is the sixth Toon whose regular and Twisted versions appear in separate thumbnails, following Razzle & Dazzle & Blot, Sprout & Pebble, Shelly, Gourdy, and Coal.
  • Technically, this could be excluded since the thumbnail featuring her regular form was eventually replaced with the Twisted version.
  • Walking animations for the Sunflower Patch, Egg Hunting, and Spring-Time skins play slower than her default, Belle Basket, Golden, and Vintage Skins. Her arms also swing with more energy during her running animation, which may be a bug.
  • A similar pattern appears with Event Main Characters and rerun content, as Bobette's skins from the 2025 Christmas Event (except Hot Chocolate) also modify her animations slightly.
  • She is the only Event Main Toon with a publicly available full Icon.
  • Like Gourdy and Bobette, Bassie has her own holiday-themed song called Wilting.
  • This song also reveals that Bassie has an official voice actor, OR30.
  • She is the second Toon, alongside Cocoa, to have an official voice actor, following the three Christmas Toons (excluding Coal).
  • Bassie is the fourth Toon who uses their head to store or contain objects (pressed flowers in her case), after Teagan (first), Finn (second), and Gigi (third).
  • At present, Bassie and Gourdy are the only two Main Toons who lack an interaction with each other, and it remains unclear whether one will be added.
