Strategy
Sprout is best understood as a distractor healer.
His active ability is Baked Sweets.
Sprout's passive ability is Overprotective.
Sprout is a great supporter and superb Toon for many types of runs. His mobility is above average with 4-star Movement Speed and 5-star Stamina, the highest in the game tied with Blot, making him a very capable distractor. The only real downside to playing Sprout is his low extractability at 2 stars for both Extraction Speed and Skill Check, but this can be mitigated with Trinkets such as Vee's Remote or Stress Ball. However, because Sprout's healing utility often overshadows pure distraction, he is best applied as a backup distractor rather than the primary one. If dedicated distractors like Pebble or Flutter are in the lobby, let them fill that role while Sprout focuses on scavenging Tapes and Items to fuel multiple heals per run.
Sprout's active ability Baked Sweets allows him to heal any hurt Toon in range for 1 Heart at the cost of 100 Tapes with a 100-second cooldown. Since Tapes can be scarce, prioritize healing distractors, other healers, and Toons at one heart. Save around 200 Tapes for emergencies unless the Floor is particularly dangerous. Having multiple Sprouts in the same run is inefficient, as the ability cost increases by 50 Tapes and the cooldown extends by 30 seconds per additional Sprout. Note that healing Items like Health Kits can heal at the same price or less, and Bandages for nearly half, so save Tapes in case a Bandage appears in Dandy's Elevator Shop. Ensuring all players start with around 80 Tapes before Sprout collects the rest allows everyone to purchase heals or useful Items that appear. Since Sprout cannot heal himself, having a Cosmo or stocked healing Items is essential for his own survival.
Sprout pairs exceptionally well with several Toons. Cosmo is his strongest partner, as their combined higher Stealth stats and Cosmo's shorter cooldown let them deliver Hearts more efficiently to those in peril. Sprout can reimburse Cosmo for Hearts lost, and Cosmo can heal Sprout in return, creating a highly effective healing loop. Teagan in the party means one fewer Toon to worry about, easing resource management. Cocoa can drop BonBons worth 5 Tapes every 21.8 to 40 seconds depending on Trinkets and Cards, providing a steady supplementary income. Yatta offers another strong pairing, as she drops Items from completed Machines for Sprout to use for Tapes, reaching full potential with rarer drops like Jawbreakers or in smaller runs. If a Bassie is present, she can help Sprout search for Items before dropping them with her ability, and Sprout can alert her to who needs healing when no Cosmo or Ginger is available.
Sprout's passive ability Overprotective shows how many hearts each Toon has and where they are located, providing far more value than simple health tracking. Use it to optimize distraction routes by adjusting your path in real time to avoid running into teammates, and to identify when damaged teammates are drawing near so you can initiate emergency maneuvers. Track movement patterns to determine if a Toon running in circles is distracting a Twisted or if one staying stationary is working on a Machine. Check how many players have reached the Elevator before popping the last Machine to avoid triggering Panic Mode prematurely. Monitor individuals at specific heart levels to track Shrimpo or a one-heart Looey who is distracting. If a teammate dies or is critically injured, a keen-eyed Sprout may be the first to realize who and where it happened, information that can be relayed to Cosmos or Gingers to save lives.
For Tape income, Sprout should focus on scavenging and using Items on the ground, preferring common and uncommon Items like Stealth Candy, Gumballs, Skill Check Candies, Jumper Cables, or Instructions. During Panic Mode, freely use any Items teammates have left behind. Additional Tape sources include encountering Twisteds, completing Machines, and using Penny Pincher or Spare Change Cards. Blind Grab, Lost and Found, Avaricious, and Covetous Cards also provide slightly more advantage for Sprout. When comparing Sprout to Ginger, who has a more potent healing ability but lower mobility, choose Sprout when your team can withstand 1-Heart heals from Main Toons or needs a backup distractor, and choose Ginger when the team handles distraction well but needs stronger extraction and healing support.
For Trinket combinations, the meta distractor set is Dog Plush plus Speedy Shoes, which lets Sprout outwalk fast Twisteds and loop Twisted Pebble at 20.2 walk speed. Dog Plush alone unlocks distraction at 19.3 walk speed, and can be paired with Dandy Plush for affordable shop purchases, Vanity Mirror for 35.75 run speed during Panic Mode, Train Whistle to nullify the Slow debuff against Twisted Vee and Ichor Leaks, or Bone for quick scouting at floor start. For extraction, Magnifying Glass paired with Vee's Remote speeds up floor progression, while Participation Award maximizes Skill Check extraction at the cost of window size. For ability support, Sweet Charm reduces Baked Sweets cooldown to 92 seconds, and adding Ghost Snakes In A Can further reduces it to approximately 87 seconds. Star Pillow is useful for regenerating Stamina faster while extracting, taking advantage of his high Stamina and slow extraction speed.
Appearance
Personality
Sprout is a straightforward, overprotective, and pragmatic Toon, as embodied by his passive ability being named Overprotective. He often brings up Cosmo in his interactions due to their status as best friends, and both share a deep interest in baking and cooking. Unlike Cosmo, Sprout does not fall for tricks easily, as demonstrated in his encounter with Gigi, though he can be pushy despite his good intentions. He is mostly quiet and introverted, especially when interacting with Toons he is not comfortable with, but becomes more open and excitable around those he is closer to, such as Cosmo and Ginger. Because of this, Sprout is not the best at socializing, as shown in his interaction with Vee where he inadvertently points out one of her insecurities while trying to check on her wellbeing. Though not gullible, he can be clumsy and forgetful, most notably leaving the oven unattended and causing a fire that Sam hurriedly put out, a habit noted in Warehouse floor logs as something that happens frequently. Sprout's bluntness and no-nonsense attitude can make him come across as stern despite his soft appearance. At his core, he is deeply protective and caring, always looking out for his teammates' wellbeing, such as firmly reassuring Looey that he is never a waste of anything. This care is especially potent with Cosmo, with Sprout becoming genuinely angry when Shrimpo states he hates Cosmo's cooking. Interestingly, when other Toons check on him, Sprout tends to change the subject or reflect the concern back onto them, shrugging off help even from his best friend. His deep and possibly clingy attachment to Cosmo likely stems from his existential crisis due to having false memories of the show and of Cosmo, who was not created until after the Main Characters were, yet appeared in many episodes alongside Sprout.

Trivia
- Sprout's complete name, Sprout Seedly, was revealed during the Halloween 2024 Stream. Qwelver confirmed in the same stream that Sprout dislikes his last name, which is further shown in his interaction with Gourdy where he suggests being called by his first name.
- Sprout's Toon Handler is Sam Mclaughlin. He is the only Main Character whose Toon Handler has a different gender than his own, as Qwelver confirmed Sam is non-binary.
- Cosmo is Sprout's closest friend, and the two share matching bracelet Trinkets, the Savory Charm and Sweet Charm, which form a flower resembling Dandy's head when placed together.
- Sprout and Cosmo have coordinated Skins across multiple themes: Caramel (Salted Caramel Sprout and Caramel Drizzle Cosmo), ChocoBerry (ChocoBerry Sprout and Berry Roll Cosmo), Frankenstein-inspired (Berry Beast Sprout and Dessertful Scientist Cosmo), pastel sprinkles with Ginger (Sugary Shortcake Sprout, Sweet Roll Cosmo, and Sugar Cookie Ginger), and carrots (Tasty Carrot Sprout and Carrot Cake Cosmo).
- His experiment designation is M-003, with the M presumably standing for Main Character. He was the last base-game Main Character to be released.
- When multiple Sprouts are present in a single round, the cost of Baked Sweets increases by 50 Tapes and the cooldown extends by 30 seconds per additional Sprout. In a game with 7 other Sprouts, the ability would cost 450 Tapes with a 310-second cooldown.
- Sprout has a habit of forgetting to turn off the oven after baking, a running gag referenced in his dialogue lines and TV animations. In one TV recording, he leaves the oven unattended causing a fire that Sam hurriedly puts out. Warehouse floor logs note this happens frequently.
- He shares the highest base Stamina value in the game (200 Stamina Units) with Scraps, Bobette, and Blot.
- Sprout currently holds the record for the most Skins in the game with 10, plus an upcoming skin from the 2026 Care Bears Collab. This is partly due to receiving 2 Skins during his Toon of the Week event.
- Up until version 0.8.1, Sprout was the tallest Toon in the game before being surpassed by Flyte. He remains the tallest Main Character Toon, which may reflect his Twisted counterpart being the tallest Twisted.
- Sprout is the only Toon known to intimidate Shrimpo and shut down his angry behavior, due to Shrimpo trying to state he hated Cosmo's cooking. According to Sprout, Shrimpo has been eating their cookies despite claiming to hate them.
- Sprout and Blot share many similarities: almost identical stats (Blot has one less star on Skill Check), both active abilities cost Tapes and produce 3D models (Sprout's cupcake and Blot's Blot Jr.), and both Twisted counterparts summon black traps that can damage players.
- Sprout's cupcakes from Baked Sweets match his Skins' color schemes, with the wrapper matching his scarf's design, the frosting matching his limbs, and the sprinkles colored like his head and torso. The Star-Time skin is an exception with cyan frosting and yellow sprinkles.
- According to Qwel during the 2025 New Year stream, Sprout likes to occasionally style his leaves, yet they always end up looking the same as before.
- According to lore videos in Sprout's Floor, Sprout had an idea of Cosmo's appearance and personality before Cosmo was actually created, which caused Sprout to beg Delilah to make Cosmo real.
- Sprout is inferred to be left-handed based on his idle animation. He is also the only Main Character whose name does not end with a vowel.
- Sprout and Cosmo's corresponding Twisteds have similar Ichor patterns: Cosmo only has Ichor on his right arm and eye, while Sprout has Ichor everywhere except his right arm and eye.
- After version 0.11, Sprout's Vintage Skin was briefly and accidentally put up for sale in Dyle's Store. Players who purchased it during that window initially kept it, but the purchase was later patched with Ichor refunded.
- He is among the Toons with an official merchandise plush, alongside Astro, Boxten, Dandy, Poppy, Pebble, Shelly, and Vee.
- Sprout is the fourth Toon to have his own map (Sprout's Floor), after Astro, Shelly, and Vee. His floor was the first and only one to originally spawn after Floor 11 rather than Floor 15, before floor spawning mechanics were modified.
