Dandy's World Panic Mode Guide

Panic Mode is a feature in Dandy's World active since v0.1. After all Machines are completed, a timer of 30 seconds (up to 40 seconds with the Decency/Etiquette Cards) begins, during which all Toons must reach the Elevator or face instant death. All Twisteds on the Floor have their speed increased by 20% (or 15% with the Suppression Card).

Panic Mode Info
Panic Mode
Trigger All Machines completed
Default timer 30 seconds
Maximum timer 40 seconds (with combined Decency and Etiquette Cards)
Twisted speed boost +20% (or +15% with Suppression Card)
Death condition Instant death when timer ends if outside Elevator, ignores Health
Safe zone Inside the Elevator; Toons cannot take damage inside

Interaction

When all Machines reach completion, the Elevator opens for 30 seconds. An alarm and heartbeat sound are heard, and a red vignette effect applies to all players' screens. During the last 10 seconds, a loud beeping sound plays after every second. When the timer ends, the Elevator door closes and any Toon still outside faces instant death regardless of remaining Health.

If all players reach the Elevator alive before the timer expires, it closes immediately without waiting for the remainder of the countdown. The Elevator is highlighted during Panic Mode and on higher detail settings, an arrow points toward it to assist with navigation.

Toons inside the Elevator cannot take damage and are considered out of line of sight. However, Twisteds' attention spans still apply, causing Twisteds to run toward the edge of the Elevator but not enter. All Items, Twisteds, and the map are deleted after all Toons enter the Elevator or the timer reaches zero.

Tips

The timer can be extended with the Decency or Etiquette Cards, which each add 5 seconds to a maximum of 40 seconds total. The Suppression Card reduces the Twisted speed boost from 20% to 15%.

Using Alarm (+25% Movement Speed for 10 seconds when Panic Mode activates) or Vanity Mirror (+30% Run Speed during Panic Mode) helps slower Toons reach the Elevator. Since Panic Mode is dangerous for low-speed Toons such as Shrimpo, Soulvester, and Vee, prioritize priming the Machine closest to the exit, especially on higher Floors with more Twisteds.

Certain Twisteds have effects that always activate during Panic Mode: Twisted Glisten and Twisted Gourdy instantly enter their aggressive states, and Twisted Finn slows the player who finished the last Machine (unless using Train Whistle or playing as Ribecca).

Fast Twisteds are especially dangerous, as their speed boost is larger in absolute terms. These include Twisted Bobette, Twisted Coal during Blackouts, Twisted Dyle, Twisted Gourdy, Twisted Pebble, and enraged Twisted Glisten.

Gourdy's Sugar Rush Passive gives all Toons a 20% speed boost for 5 seconds at the start of Panic Mode, which can help most players reach the Elevator. Finn and Shelly receive speed boosts when a Machine is completed (including the last Machine), which partially counters the Twisted speed increase.

Trivia

  • Panic Mode has been in Dandy's World since v0.1, making it one of the original mechanics.
  • The Twisted Vee Slow II Debuff is particularly dangerous during Panic Mode as it stacks with other slow sources, potentially making escape impossible for slow Toons.
  • Blot, Razzle & Dazzle, Rodger, and Squirm are stationary Twisteds with 0 movement speed and do not benefit from the Panic Mode speed boost in practical terms.

FAQ

How long does Panic Mode last in Dandy's World?

Panic Mode lasts 30 seconds by default. It can be extended to 40 seconds total by voting for the Decency Card (+5 seconds) and the Etiquette Card (+5 seconds).

What happens if you miss the Elevator during Panic Mode?

Any Toon outside the Elevator when the timer reaches zero is instantly killed, regardless of how many Hearts they have remaining. This bypasses all Health mechanics including Savory Charm.

Do Twisteds get faster during Panic Mode?

Yes. All Twisteds receive a 20% speed increase during Panic Mode. The Suppression Card reduces this boost to 15%.
