Dandy's World Health Guide

Health is a mechanic in Dandy's World that functions using Hearts, shown in the lower left corner of the screen. Regular Toons have a maximum of 3 Hearts, Main Characters have 2, and Soulvester has 4 due to his Passive Ability. When all Hearts are depleted, the Toon dies and cannot play for the rest of the run.

Health Info
Health
Regular Toon Hearts 3 maximum
Main Character Hearts 2 maximum
Soulvester Hearts 4 maximum (Passive Ability bonus)
Lethal attack Removes all Hearts instantly (Twisted Dandy, Twisted Dyle)
Panic Mode death Instant kill if outside Elevator when timer ends, ignores Health

Losing Hearts

One Heart is lost every time a Twisted strikes a Toon, unless a Lethal Twisted hits them. Twisted Dandy and Twisted Dyle are Lethal Twisteds, removing all Hearts at once upon contact.

The only other way to lose Hearts is by playing as Cosmo and using his Active Ability, Sharing is Caring, which sacrifices one of Cosmo's own Hearts to restore a Heart to a selected teammate. The ability has a 60-second cooldown.

Not reaching the Elevator before the Panic Mode timer ends bypasses the Health system entirely, causing instant death for any Toon outside the Elevator when it closes, regardless of how many Hearts remain.

Restoring Hearts

There are currently 7 ways to gain Hearts in Dandy's World:

Bandage restores one Heart for the user and is a single-use item. It can be found on the floor, picked up by Bassie and distributed, obtained via Gigi's ability, or purchased from Dandy's Shop for 60 Tapes (54 with Frugal Card, 30 with Dandy Plush, 27 with both).

Health Kit fully restores Health to maximum Hearts for the user and is single-use. It can be obtained the same ways as Bandage, or purchased for 100 Tapes (90 with Frugal, 50 with Dandy Plush, 45 with both).

The First Aid / Medical Attention Card restores one Heart to all living Toons who are missing a Heart. Teagan's Tea Time Active Ability restores one Heart to herself for 75 Tapes with a 100-second cooldown. Sprout's Baked Sweets restores one Heart to a selected Toon for 100 Tapes plus 50 Tapes and 30 seconds of cooldown per extra Sprout on the floor. Cosmo's Sharing is Caring restores one Heart to a selected Toon at the cost of one of Cosmo's own Hearts. Ginger's Baked with Care! restores all Hearts for a selected Toon for 100 Tapes plus 50 Tapes and 30 seconds per extra Ginger on the floor.

Toon-Specific Interactions

Multiple Toons interact directly with the Heart mechanic. Poppy gains a temporary 50% speed boost upon losing a Heart. Looey gains 20% more Movement Speed for every missing Heart. Yatta drops 4 random candy Items upon being injured. Teagan can grant herself one Heart for 75 Tapes. Cosmo can damage himself to give a targeted Toon one Heart. Ginger can use 100 Tapes to heal all Hearts of a selected Toon. Soulvester has one extra Heart compared to other Toons due to his Passive Ability.

Blot's Active Ability, Blot Jr., spawns a decoy with one Heart to attract Twisteds for 10 Tapes plus 10 Tapes per extra Blot on the floor. Bassie's Springful Sharing can drop any Item including Bandages and Health Kits, subject to their availability on Floors or in Dandy's Shop.

Trinket-Specific Interactions

Several Trinkets interact directly with the Health mechanic. Memory Locket shows the player whether any healing Items are on the current Floor if their Health bar is not full.

Savory Charm protects the player from being killed when at 1 Heart, unless the attack came from a Lethal Twisted. This effect activates only once per run.

Blushy Bat activates when the player is hit by a Twisted, causing the attacking Twisted's attack cooldown to increase by 3 seconds. Soul Sword applies the Slow I Debuff to the Twisted that attacked the equipped Toon.

Fishing Rod has a chance of giving the player Bandages at the start of a run.

Trivia

  • The only method of surviving being fully depleted of Health is by equipping Savory Charm. However, attacks from Lethal Twisteds and being caught outside the Elevator at the end of Panic Mode ignore Savory Charm's effects.
  • It is currently impossible to lose Hearts while inside the Elevator, unless Cosmo uses his Ability while the Elevator is open. In rare cases, Twisteds can damage players who get too close to the entrance.
  • Soulvester has the highest Health in the game at 4 Hearts. Dandy and Dyle have 99 Hearts but are only playable by the game's developers.
  • Pebble used to interact with the Health system. His previous Passive Ability, Survival Instincts, gave a 25% boost in Stamina and Stealth while on one Heart, before being changed.
  • Ginger used to share the same healing Ability as Cosmo. In v0.14.1, her Ability was changed so she now uses 100 Tapes to heal all Hearts of a selected Toon.
