Main Characters are a special type of Toon in Dandy's World, distinguished by a rainbow border around their icon. They are considered symbols of skill and experience since they require high Ichor costs, 100% Research on their Twisted counterpart, and full Mastery on another Toon to unlock. There are currently 8 playable Main Characters: Astro, Bassie, Bobette, Gourdy, Pebble, Shelly, Sprout, and Vee.

What Are Main Characters
Main Characters are signified by a rainbow border around their icon in Dandy's Store and the Toon selection menu, compared to the usual gray displayed for other Toons. Event Main Character Toons are exceptions, having a half-rainbow, half-event colored border instead. The currently known requirements for a Toon to be a Main Character include: having 2 Hearts, having 2 Abilities (one Active and one Passive), having a Stat spread of 16 Stars, being a major character in the Dandy's World Show, having unique dialogue and Machine completion sound, and having at least one 5-Star Stat.
These Toons are often viewed as symbols of status or experience. The more Main Character Toons a player has, the more skilled they are viewed as, since Main Characters are generally harder to acquire.
Playable Main Characters and Requirements
Astro requires 5000 Ichor, 100% Research on Twisted Astro, and encountering Twisted Dandy. Pebble requires 3750 Ichor, 100% Research on Twisted Pebble, and full Mastery on Toodles. Shelly requires 4250 Ichor, 100% Research on Twisted Shelly, and full Mastery on Tisha. Sprout requires 4500 Ichor, 100% Research on Twisted Sprout, and full Mastery on Cosmo. Vee requires 4500 Ichor, 100% Research on Twisted Vee, and full Mastery on Brightney.
Event Main Characters cost 2500 Ichor plus 3000 of their respective Event Currency: Bassie costs 3000 Baskets plus 2500 Ichor; Bobette costs 3000 Ornaments plus 2500 Ichor; Gourdy costs 3000 Pumpkins plus 2500 Ichor. All Event Mains also require 100% Research on their Twisted counterpart.

Pebble's Active "Speak!" barks to drastically decrease Stealth and alert nearby Twisteds (60s cooldown); his Passive "Fetch!" highlights nearby Items. Shelly's Active "Inspiration" boosts a Toon's Extraction Speed by 75% for 15 seconds (60s cooldown); her Passive "Problem Solver" grants a 25% Movement Speed boost for 10 seconds when any Machine is completed.
Sprout's Active "Baked Sweets" heals a targeted Toon by 1 Heart at the cost of 100 Tapes (100s cooldown, tape cost scales with Healing Toons); his Passive "Overprotective" shows all alive Toons and their Health status. Vee's Active "Mic Check" highlights all Twisteds and Machines on the Floor for 5 seconds (50s cooldown); her Passive "Camera Hijack" highlights the nearest 2 uncompleted Machines.

Each Main Character requires 100% Research on their Twisted counterpart, a large amount of Ichor (3750–5000 for base-game Mains, 2500 for Event Mains), and a third requirement — usually full Mastery on a related Common or Uncommon Toon. Astro's third requirement is encountering Twisted Dandy; Event Mains require 3000 of their Event Currency instead.
Which Main Character is the best in Dandy's World?
