APPEARANCE

Twisted Astro towers over his standard Toon form with a noticeably larger frame. Ichor streams from only the left side of his face, giving the impression he is weeping dark tears. Both eyes glow red, including the distinctive star-shaped right eye. His blanket hangs in tatters, exposing four arms and a pair of black shorts beneath. Ichor stains mark his upper right arm, lower left arm, and right leg. His oversized nightcap trails along the ground behind him, its lower portion completely saturated with Ichor. While idle or walking, he presses two of his hands against his face as though wiping away or concealing his tears. The tip of his nightcap twitches periodically when he stands still. His facial expression shifts to one of heightened distress whenever he enters a chase.

DESCRIPTION

Twisted Astro is a large, roaming Main Twisted that drifts through floors without a set patrol route. In keeping with his support-focused Toon counterpart, his signature ability lets him sabotage Machine progress whenever he is alerted by a failed Skill Check. He drains roughly half of the target Machine's current completion, which means nearly finished Machines suffer heavily while barely started ones are barely affected. On top of this, any Toon he actively chases receives the Tired III Debuff, cutting Stamina Regeneration by 75%.

HOW TO DEAL WITH TWISTED ASTRO

Outrunning Twisted Astro requires investment in Movement Speed or Stamina items such as Speed Candy, Stamina Candy, and Protein Bars. His chase speed received a slight buff in the 0.4.0 Update, placing him just above most Common Twisteds and matching Twisted Gigi and Twisted Yatta, so escaping on foot is more challenging than before.

His hearing radius is effectively unlimited across the entire Floor, meaning he can detect Air Horns, Pebble's Active Ability, and any failed Skill Check no matter where they occur.

Compared to other Main Twisteds, Twisted Astro is somewhat easier to manage because the Tired III Debuff alone is not crippling. If you are not the designated distractor, you will burn Stamina running from him regardless, but the lingering debuff afterward slows your Stamina recovery and leaves you exposed to follow-up encounters. Distracting him solo is manageable thanks to his only slightly above-average speed. The real danger emerges when he appears alongside Twisteds like Twisted Vee, since the combined Tired debuff and Slow effect can drain your Stamina far more quickly, potentially leading to a hit or death. In these situations, carry Stamina recovery items such as PopPops, Bottle o' Pop, Chocolate, Stamina Candies, or Protein Bars. Having Astro on your team is a major advantage since his ability restores Stamina, though the long cooldown makes it situational. Bobette's Passive can also help, but it will not fully negate the debuff, and her below-average Stealth can create bigger problems unless she is equipped with Diary or you have Scrapbook while playing a 2 Stealth Toon. Pairing Dog Plush with a 4 Star Movement Speed Toon allows them to outwalk him by a slim margin, rendering the debuff irrelevant unless faster Twisteds like Twisted Toodles or Twisted Shelly are also in pursuit.

Exercise extra caution during Ichor Leaks. Twisted Astro's floor-wide hearing synergizes dangerously with the Illness III Debuff from Ichor puddles, which makes Skill Check failures far more frequent. This increases the likelihood of him draining Machine progress and extends the time needed to clear floors. The puddles also apply Slow I, which becomes potentially lethal when stacked with Twisted Astro's high speed and Tired Debuff, making escapes much harder. The Slow effect is less of a concern if he is already being distracted or responding to another alert, but it remains a serious hazard for distractors unless they have Train Whistle equipped.

Even outside of distraction duty, the Tired Debuff can be problematic. If you escape a chase but the debuff persists, a second encounter while your Stamina is depleted can be fatal. Toons like Yatta and Gigi need to be especially careful since their low Stamina drains quickly and regenerates very slowly under the debuff. Yatta's high mobility largely offsets the Tired III effect, but Gigi struggles significantly. Pink Bow is a reasonable option for Gigi, but once her Stamina runs out, your best hope is to break line of sight around a corner.

When distracting as Looey, Twisted Astro becomes much less threatening, especially with Dog Plush. Looey can outwalk him comfortably along with nearly every other Twisted except Twisted Pebble and Twisted Bobette (Twisted Astro cannot spawn on Twisted Dyle's Floor, and Twisted Gourdy is exclusive to the Halloween Event), which effectively neutralizes the debuff to a large degree.

Ribecca is completely immune to Twisted Astro's Tired Debuff thanks to her Passive Ability, The Undead, making him considerably easier to handle, though his high speed and long attention span still demand respect. This immunity enables her to rescue teammates from him, particularly slower Toons, those with low Stamina, or players on their last Heart. Be cautious when attempting saves if other dangerous Twisteds are present, especially given Twisted Astro's extended attention span and speed.

TRIVIA
  • Twisted Astro is the sole Twisted with more than four limbs, possessing a total of six.
  • If Ichor hands are counted, he ties with Twisted Boxten. Twisted Gigi would rank second with five limbs (or third if Ichor legs are included).
  • When Ichor legs are factored in, he falls to second place behind Twisted Gourdy, who has eight limbs total.
  • His soft, nearly silent footsteps make him hard to detect at the start of a new Floor, mirroring the fact that his playable Toon counterpart has the highest Stealth stat in the game.
  • The Tired III Debuff he applies while chasing may be a deliberate contrast to his Toon counterpart's ability to restore Stamina and grant 50% bonus Stamina regeneration.
  • He is the smallest and shortest Main Twisted by body size, though his model becomes the tallest when head accessories are included, primarily due to the extreme height of his nightcap without the rig.
  • Twisted Astro is one of the few Main Character Twisteds that do not leave Ichor footprints while walking, alongside Twisted Pebble and Twisted Bassie (prior to v0.17.1).
  • Before v0.17.1, being chased by Twisted Astro was the only way to receive the Tired III Debuff or any Tired debuff at all.
  • Outside of limited-time Events, his chase remains the only source of the Tired debuff.
  • His design bears a slight resemblance to Dandy's early Twisted concept art, though whether this is intentional remains unclear.
  • Like the other Main Character Twisteds, he produces a persistent ambient sound cue.
  • Several of his sound effects are derived from the responses of Io in Dota 2, including his hum, wail, lost sight sound, ambient loop, snicker, and aggro/debuff sounds.
  • Following the v0.4.0 update, his chase speed increased by 1 unit, rising from 18 to 19.
  • He can be alerted by failed Skill Checks, Air Horns, and Pebble's Speak! Ability from anywhere on the map, similar to Twisted Vee, Twisted Dandy, Twisted Dyle, and Twisted Gourdy. He is the only one among them that directly interacts with the Machine where the failed Skill Check occurred.
  • Twisted Astro and Twisted Vee are the only Main Character Twisteds that apply Debuffs to Toons during a chase. Twisted Shelly does not qualify since her Confused I Debuff affects the entire floor. Twisted Astro inflicts Tired III while Twisted Vee inflicts Slow II.
  • He is currently the only non-event Main Character Twisted who does not appear in any of the game's thumbnails.
  • Prior to v0.12.1, his model lacked the black shorts visible in his Toon counterpart's Main Poster. The shorts were added when his model was optimized, though his render still does not show them.
  • He is among the Twisteds eligible for a full render update, alongside several others including Twisted Dandy, Twisted Glisten, Twisted Toodles, Twisted Finn, Twisted Tisha, Twisted Rodger, Twisted Bobette, and Twisted Coal.
  • Twisted Astro happened to be on the Twisted Board on the same days the 2025 Easter and Halloween Events launched, which reduced board time for those Events' Uncommon Twisteds (Twisted Flyte and Twisted Soulvester). This did not occur during the Christmas Event.
  • In the rare scenario where a Machine completes at the exact moment a Skill Check fails on it, Twisted Astro will still run to the Machine, but the completion is unaffected.
  • There is a known bug where Twisted Astro can cause a Machine's completion to decrease improperly.
