Description
Each Toon comes with 6 Mastery quests covering tasks such as traveling a certain distance, surviving a number of Floors, or finishing a number of Machines. Quests are usually catered to the Toon's specific strengths and Abilities.
Completing all 6 Mastery quests grants the Toon's Vintage Skin, which changes the Toon's color palette to monochrome and adds highlight slits to their eyes. Vintage Skins are not a 1:1 grayscale version of normal colors and often modify brightness. If the Toon was already black and white (such as Blot), most or all colors will change shades.
Mastery quests only progress while that specific Toon is being used. Once Mastery is obtained, the player must click the green CLAIM button under the Toon's Mastery to receive the Vintage Skin.

Strategies
For Item Usage and Obtainment quests, equip Trinkets that grant Items early such as Fishing Rod, Crayon Set, Megaphone, and Pop Pack. Prioritize Gumballs and Box o' Chocolates for use-x-Items quests since they are multi-use. Buying Items from Dandy's Shop counts as picking up an Item, so Fancy Purse is viable.
For Meters Travelled quests, equip speed Trinkets such as Clown Horn and Speedy Shoes, Dog Plush, or Pink Bow, and move around the first Floor as much as possible. Items like Speed Candy, Eject Button, and Box o' Chocolates increase Movement Speed. Invite Tisha or Flyte to boost your speed, or Astro to refill Stamina for longer sprints.
For Active Ability Usage quests, equip both Ghost Snakes In A Can and Sweet Charm and use your Ability as much as possible. Vote on the Rehearsal/Practice Card to reduce the Active Ability cooldown.
For Machine Completion quests, use extraction Trinkets like Vee's Remote, Magnifying Glass, or Participation Award. Vote on Tech Savvy whenever possible. Invite Shelly or Brusha for faster extraction.
For Floors Reached and Survived quests, build a coordinated team. Use Savory Charm to survive a fatal attack once per run and vote First Aid / Medical Attention when at low Health.
Trivia
- Pebble, Bobette, and Bassie's requirement of reaching Floor 20 is widely considered the hardest Mastery requirement in the game.
- Every Toon requires traveling a certain number of meters. Brusha needs the fewest at 40,000 meters, while Pebble needs the most at 175,000.
- Blot is the only Toon that requires Mastery on two different Toons (Looey and Yatta) to be unlocked, and the only Toon requiring two Toons present simultaneously for a Mastery quest.
- Cocoa is the first and only Toon with a Mastery requirement to use a specific Item, that being BonBon.
- Mastery is frequently difficult to acquire on Main Character Toons due to their higher requirements.
