Appearance

Ribbon Spool appears as a red ribbon wound around a hollow spool, similar to a spool of thread. The ribbon color matches the red of Razzle and Dazzle's necks and scarf. One half of the spool is white and the other side is black, reflecting the contrasting body shades of Razzle and Dazzle. The interior of the spool is the same shade of red as the outer ribbon.

Strategies

Ribbon Spool was specifically designed to assist Razzle and Dazzle on even Floors, but distractors and kiters also benefit heavily from the speed boost. Pairing Ribbon Spool with Dog Plush on even Floors gives 21% Walk Speed, which allows Pebble, Looey, and Eclipse (during Blackouts) to sprint-tap Twisted Pebble or out-walk him entirely in Eclipse's case. However, the bonus is locked to even-numbered Floors, so when used alone the benefit is RNG-dependent — you need the more dangerous Twisteds to spawn on even Floors for the trinket to matter most.

A strong team strategy is to run two Pebbles: one with Dog Plush and Clown Horn, the other with Dog Plush and Ribbon Spool. The two players alternate distracting duties so that one always has an active speed buff regardless of Floor parity. This setup also creates natural downtime windows for picking up Items, collecting Tape, or extracting Machines.

Ribbon Spool also has a unique synergy when Razzle and Dazzle is actively distracting for your party. Because Razzle and Dazzle cannot distract on even Floors, those are the Floors where the rest of the team needs speed the most. On those Floors Ribbon Spool gives a better buff than Speedy Shoes or Dog Plush as long as Razzle and Dazzle is still alive. In most other cases, trinkets that provide a bonus on all Floors are generally considered superior because Ribbon Spool leaves you without a trinket slot every other Floor.

Best Users and Pairings

Ribbon Spool is strongest on high-Movement-Speed Toons such as Pebble, Looey, and Eclipse, where the percentage-based 10% boost translates into meaningful spacing from Twisteds. Fast Toons convert the extra Walk and Run Speed into real pathing control, reducing how often they need to sprint and preserving Stamina over long chases.

The best single pairing for Ribbon Spool is Clown Horn. Clown Horn gives 10% Walk and Run Speed on odd-numbered Floors, while Ribbon Spool covers the even-numbered Floors. Together they produce a consistent 10% Walk and Run Speed boost on every Floor, which outperforms the Dog Plush plus Pink Bow combination (10% Walk, 7.5% Run) and never has a dead Floor. Skip Ribbon Spool if you are playing a slow Toon with under 3-Star Movement Speed — the flat gain from 10% of a low base stat is too small to justify a trinket slot, and Pink Bow or Speedy Shoes will generally return more practical value.

Ribbon Spool has several notable history and design details.

• Ribbon Spool originally granted 10% more Walk and Run Speed on odd-numbered Floors instead of even-numbered Floors.
• The switch to even Floors happened in the v0.2.0 update. The old odd-Floor buff was later given to Clown Horn when it released in v0.5.1.
• Ribbon Spool may be the only Trinket specifically designed to help the Toon whose Research unlocks it — Razzle and Dazzle cannot distract on even Floors, so the speed buff fills their gap.

Movement Speed Math

Because Ribbon Spool is a percentage-based boost, the raw stat gain scales with base Movement Speed. At 1-Star the increase is only 1 Walk and 2 Run, while at 5-Star it becomes 2 Walk and 3 Run. This scaling is why the trinket is far more impactful on Toons with 4-Star or 5-Star Movement Speed. For slower Toons the added units are too small to change whether they can out-walk a given Twisted, making flat-bonus or Run-focused trinkets more efficient.
