Strategies

Magnifying Glass is considerably the best Trinket in the game in regards to extraction, as it speeds up the process significantly when hitting a Skill Check, with the only consequence being the smaller Skill Check size. This may be an issue when using it on Toons with 1-Star Skill Check, such as Shrimpo or Cosmo. Using this Trinket, Machines will fill up by 4% of their completion when hitting the gray bar of the Skill Check, and 4% in addition of the Skill Check value when hitting the gold bar.

Using this Trinket with a 1-Star Extraction Speed Toon such as Pebble will allow them to extract at the same speed as a 3-Star Extraction Speed Toon (or faster) when several golden Skill Checks are hit. In combination with Participation Award, this Trinket will be even more powerful as you'll extract almost at the same speed as Vee due to increased Skill Check opportunities. However, the Skill Check size will be reduced by 39.7%, which is an extreme amount.

Toons with 5-Star Skill Check (such as Shelly and Gigi) with this Trinket extract at around the same speed as 5-Star Extraction Speed Toons if the golden Skill Check is hit consistently. Magnifying Glass can also be used in combination with Participation Award on a 1-Star Skill Check Toon like Bassie (preferred for her speed and low extraction Stat) to practice performing small Skill Checks. Vee's Remote is a common pairing as it can clear dangerous Machines while Magnifying Glass handles the rest.

Best Users and Real Ceiling

Magnifying Glass is best on players who can reliably convert smaller Skill Checks into actual extra machine value. Shelly, Gigi, Vee, Bassie in practiced hands, and any Toon with strong prompt comfort can get far more from it than the raw text implies. The trinket scales with player execution, which is why it remains one of the highest-ceiling extraction options in the game.

Its real value is not only faster Machines. It reduces how long you stay exposed at dangerous objectives, which often matters more than nominal extraction numbers. That is why strong players keep returning to it.

When to Use It and What Beats It

Use Magnifying Glass when you trust your Skill Check accuracy and want sustained machine value over the whole run. It is especially strong in lobbies where the extractor can play cleanly and repeatedly capitalize on golden prompts.

Skip it if the smaller Skill Check size causes misses, panic, or failed Machines. In that case, Wrench, Blue Bandana, or Vee's Remote can outperform it in practice even if their ceiling is lower. Magnifying Glass is only elite when the player can actually cash in the prompt advantage.

• Before v0.2 introduced the revamped Skill Checks (Golden/Great Skill Checks), this Trinket used to award 4 units of value for each successful Skill Check — a 56.25% nerf in value.
• Magnifying Glass is the third Trinket to be seen in an animation and to have a 3D model, being shown when Rodger takes a Research Capsule.
