Why Stealth Trinkets Matter

Stealth determines detection distance for Twisteds and target priority. A Toon with lower Stealth is always targeted over one with higher Stealth, regardless of distance, as long as both remain visible. Even a small trinket adjustment can shift who gets chased, making stealth trinkets critical for distractor setups and extractors near active threat zones.

The Stealth stat ranges from 0 units at 1-Star to 20 units at 5-Star. Percentage-based trinkets like Diary scale with the base value, so high-Stealth Toons like Astro and Connie (both 5-Star) gain the most raw benefit.

All Stealth Trinkets Compared

Only four trinkets in Dandy's World directly affect the Stealth stat. Two increase visibility to Twisteds (useful for distractors), one increases stealth (useful for extractors and supports), and one offers a random chance at a Stealth boost.

Diary — The Best Stealth Trinket

Diary is the only trinket with a pure Stealth increase and no drawbacks. Its 25% boost scales by base Stealth: Astro and Connie go from 20 to 25 units (effectively 6-Star), a 3-Star Toon gains 2.5 units, and a 2-Star Toon gains 1.25 units.

The signature Diary strategy is Bobette Solar Kiting — Bobette walks counter-clockwise from a 2-Star Stealth distractor and Diary lifts her above the distractor's threshold so Twisteds ignore her. It also helps stealth extractors work near distractors without pulling aggro. However, Diary does not work on Brightney or Gourdy (0 Stealth units), and makes Shrimpo worse by multiplying his -99 Stealth to -123.75.

Scrapbook — Controlled Stealth Reduction

Scrapbook is an Easter Event Holiday Trinket from Twisted Flyte research that decreases Stealth by 5% with no other penalties. A 3-Star Toon drops from 10 to 9.5 units, enough to retain Twisted aggro when everyone else shares the same Stealth rating. It is strictly better than Coal for distractor purposes because it avoids the Movement Speed penalty entirely. Since the reduction is percentage-based, it has no effect on 1-Star Stealth Toons (0 units remains 0). Scrapbook is limited Holiday content, so availability depends on having completed the Easter Event research.

Coal — Why You Should Avoid It

Coal decreases Stealth by 10% and Walk and Run Speed by 10%. The Movement Speed penalty makes it strictly worse than Scrapbook for distractor purposes. Even pairing Coal with Dog Plush only offsets Walk Speed partially (leaving -1% Walk and full -10% Run). Scrapbook achieves the Stealth reduction without touching speed, making Coal a trap pick in virtually every scenario.

When Stealth Beats Extraction

If you cannot stay on a Machine long enough to benefit from an extraction trinket, a stealth trinket may create more total progress by making the room survivable first. Diary on Astro or Connie can mean the difference between finishing a Machine uninterrupted and losing progress to a forced dodge.

Best Toon Pairings for Stealth Trinkets

Stealth trinkets are percentage-based, so they scale with base Stealth and create clear tiers of value.

• Astro and Connie (5-Star, 20 units): Diary adds +5 units to 25, the largest raw boost. Best stealth trinket users in the game.
• Bassie, Cocoa, Cosmo, Ginger, Toodles (4-Star, 15 units): Diary adds 3.75 units to 18.75. Strong for safe extraction.
• Bobette and other 2-Star Toons (5 units): Diary adds 1.25 units. Still meaningful for Solar Kiting.
• Brightney, Gourdy (1-Star, 0 units): No percentage stealth trinket works. Shrimpo (-99 units): Diary makes him worse.

When to Skip Stealth Trinkets

Skip stealth trinkets when deaths come from poor chase movement rather than aggro — movement or stamina trinkets help more. Skip Diary on any 1-Star or negative Stealth Toon. Skip Scrapbook when your lobby already has a dedicated distractor like Pebble or Shrimpo, since lowering your own Stealth would interfere with their role. In most public lobbies, Machine Manual, Pink Bow, or Dog Plush provide more consistent value.
