Appearance

Blue Bandana is a pastel blue neck bandana, resembling the one Boxten wears.

Strategies

Blue Bandana can be used on Toons with higher Extraction Speed and lower Skill Check stats to provide a useful boost on finishing Machines. If you don't struggle with Skill Checks on Toons like Shrimpo, Cosmo, Bassie, or Blot, you may not need to use this and prefer to use Skill Check-boosting Trinkets instead. This Trinket will only save you a few seconds per Machine, so it's not usually a top pick.

This Trinket can be used as a stepping stone for newer players, or can be used to aid laggy people or players using the aforementioned 1-Star Skill Check Toons, lowering the risk of failed Skill Checks and increasing Extraction Speed. However, if you aren't one of those, using other Trinkets like Magnifying Glass, Stress Ball, or Participation Award is much more recommended. Moreover, it isn't recommended to use Blue Bandana alongside these Trinkets, as those Trinkets' specialty could be hindered with Blue Bandana's effects.

You may also use this Trinket on a fast extractor with subpar Skill Check, like Flyte, Glisten, and even Yatta to speed up extraction even more for faster Floor progression. In contrast, Toons with a Skill Check Stat higher than Extraction Speed like Tisha will on average take longer to complete Machines with this Trinket, so using it could actually be harmful.

Who Should Actually Use Blue Bandana

Blue Bandana is best on Toons whose machine value comes from stable extraction rather than golden Skill Check optimization. Blot, Cosmo, Shrimpo, Bassie, and similar low-Skill-Check or awkward-machine picks can use it as a simple way to push floor pace without betting too much on timing precision.

The trinket is much weaker on players who already hit Skill Checks well or on Toons with naturally strong Skill Check profiles. In those cases, the penalty can erase the gain and make Machine work feel worse instead of better.

Tradeoffs and Better Alternatives

The key question with Blue Bandana is whether you want consistent extraction speed or better Skill Check conversion. If your issue is that you miss prompts, Magnifying Glass or other Skill Check-focused options usually scale better once you can handle the smaller timing windows. If your issue is simply that your Toon's machine pace feels slow and clunky, Blue Bandana can still do useful work.

Do not stack Blue Bandana blindly with Skill Check trinkets that are trying to push a different direction. If you are improving at prompt timing, Blue Bandana is often a transitional pick rather than a final build piece.

Trivia

Blue Bandana has a few notable historical changes.

  • Blue Bandana used to increase Skill Check Chance by 5%, but was changed after v0.2 and was later given to Paint Bucket.
  • The total Extraction Speed gained approximates to: 1-Star (0.75) → 0.80 (56.25 seconds); 3-Star (1) → 1.075 (41.86~ seconds); 5-Star (1.5) → 1.61 (27.95~ seconds).
  • According to the formula used on the Machines page, this is the only Trinket that can make you take longer to complete a Machine, but only for certain Stat distributions.

FAQ

How do you get Blue Bandana in Dandy's World?

Blue Bandana is obtained by achieving 100% Research on Twisted Boxten. It is a Twisted Trinket, meaning it requires repeated research capsule progress across multiple runs.

Is Blue Bandana good in Dandy's World?

Blue Bandana is situationally useful on Toons with lower Skill Check stats like Shrimpo, Cosmo, or Blot. It is not recommended alongside Skill Check-boosting Trinkets such as Magnifying Glass or Stress Ball, as the -5% Skill Check chance penalty hinders their effectiveness.

Blue Bandana or Magnifying Glass is better?

Magnifying Glass is stronger if you can reliably hit smaller Skill Checks. Blue Bandana is the safer choice for players or Toons that want simpler extraction value without leaning on prompt execution.
