Dandy's World Stealth Guide
Stealth is a core Stat in Dandy's World that determines how Twisteds detect players and which targets they prioritize. Toons with lower Stealth are always prioritized over those with higher Stealth when both are visible, making Stealth a key factor in distraction and extraction roles.
| Stat function | Determines Twisted detection distance and target priority |
|---|---|
| Stealth unit range | -99 (Shrimpo passive) to 20 (5-star Toons) |
| Lowest Stealth Toon | Shrimpo at -99 via Passive (Blot Jr. at -999 excluded) |
| Highest Stealth Toons | Astro and Connie at 5 Stars / 20 units |
| Max achievable Stealth | 28 units (5-star Toon + Diary + Lucky Coin Stealth roll) |
Line of Sight
Line of sight (LoS) is the fundamental concept behind Stealth. Most Twisteds have two detection areas: a long cone angled in the direction they face (direct vision) and a circle centered on their position (circular vision). Detection ranges differ between Twisteds — Twisted Pebble has a direct vision of 125, one of the highest, while Twisted Toodles has a direct vision of only 50.
Any set piece on the map, such as a wall or crate, interrupts a Twisted's line of sight, even if it visually appears transparent. Machines are an exception and do not block LoS. Twisted Cocoa's jump ability allows her LoS to follow over obstacles. Twisted Blot's hands may target through walls.
Entering a Twisted's line of sight for the first time per floor rewards 5 Tapes (3 if the Twisted is passive) and 5% Research on that Twisted (10% when playing as Rodger). This is called an encounter.
Targeting Mechanics
Twisted targeting depends on three factors: target priority, distance, and line of sight. Players within a Twisted's LoS are always prioritized over failed Skill Checks. Among players visible in LoS, the one with the lowest Stealth stat is always the priority target — even if they are farther away than a higher-Stealth Toon standing directly beside the Twisted.
Once a Twisted locks onto a target, it retains aggro as long as the player remains in or reenters LoS. Getting out of LoS and staying out is necessary to lose a Twisted. If the primary target leaves LoS, the Twisted will switch to the next-lowest Stealth Toon in view.
Twisted Razzle and Dazzle and Twisted Rodger are exceptions: in their activated states they lose track of a player who leaves LoS and will return to passive after enough time without spotting anyone. Twisted Bassie temporarily ignores Stealth and continues targeting a Toon after using vines. Twisted Squirm only has circular vision and will cling to grabbed targets. Twisted Goob pulls the first Toon he sees but will switch aggro if a lower-Stealth Toon enters his view soon enough.
Stealth Units by Star Rating
Each star rating corresponds to a fixed Stealth unit value.
| Star Rating | Stealth Units | Toons |
|---|---|---|
| 1 Star (0 units) | 0 | Brightney, Gourdy (base 1 Star; not affected by most Stealth changes) |
| 2 Stars (5 units) | 5 | Bobette, Brusha, Eclipse, Glisten, Goob, Looey, Squirm, Teagan, Vee, Yatta |
| 3 Stars (10 units) | 10 | Most Toons — the default Stealth value |
| 4 Stars (15 units) | 15 | Bassie, Cocoa, Cosmo, Ginger, Toodles |
| 5 Stars (20 units) | 20 | Astro, Connie |
Abilities That Interact with Stealth
Several Toon Abilities directly modify Stealth. Pebble's Speak! ability reduces his Stealth to -40, drawing nearby Twisteds to his location as if a Skill Check failed there. Shrimpo's Bully Passive permanently sets his Stealth to -99, the lowest of any Toon. Toodles has a 1-in-5 chance to gain a 15% Stealth boost from her Beginner's Luck ability.
Other Abilities interact with Stealth indirectly: Gigi's Surprise! can pull Stealth-modifying Items from her head, including Smoke Bombs; Connie's Haunting Escape removes all non-lethal Twisted priority; Bobette's Precious Packaging removes all Twisted priority entirely. Blot's Blot Jr. ability creates a decoy with -999 Stealth, which draws all Twisted attention except from Twisted Razzle and Dazzle and Twisted Rodger.
Trinkets That Affect Stealth
Several Trinkets modify Stealth directly.
| Trinket | Effect | Obtainment |
|---|---|---|
| Diary | Increases Stealth by 25% | 100% Research on Twisted Flutter |
| Lucky Coin | Boosts a random Stat by 12% once per Floor (1/5 chance of Stealth) | 100% Research on Twisted Gigi |
| Scrapbook | Decreases Stealth by 5% | 100% Research on Twisted Flyte |
| Coal (Trinket) | Decreases Stealth by 10% and Movement Speed by 10% | 100% Research on Twisted Coal |
Trivia
- Astro and Connie have the highest Stealth at 5 Stars, while Brightney and Gourdy have the lowest base Stealth at 1 Star (not counting Abilities).
- Stealth is the only Stat with Star values that is purely independent — it has no paired opposite stat like Skill Check/Extraction Speed or Movement Speed/Stamina.
- Stealth is currently the only Stat with no Machines that directly interact with it.
- The highest theoretically achievable Stealth is 28 units: a 5-Star Stealth Toon with Diary and a Lucky Coin Stealth roll (40% total increase).
- Air Horns and Pebble's Speak! do not technically apply a Stealth Debuff icon — they reduce Stealth by 50 units and call Twisteds but do not show the Debuff indicator.
FAQ
How does Stealth affect targeting in Dandy's World?
Twisteds always prioritize the player with the lowest Stealth stat visible in their line of sight, regardless of distance. A 1-Star Stealth Toon farther away will be targeted over a 2-Star Stealth Toon standing beside the Twisted, as long as both are in LoS.
Which Toons have the highest and lowest Stealth?
Astro and Connie have the highest Stealth at 5 Stars (20 units). Shrimpo has the lowest at -99 units via his Bully Passive, though Blot Jr. is technically lower at -999.
What Trinket gives the best Stealth boost?
Diary gives a flat 25% Stealth increase and is the most reliable Stealth-boosting Trinket. Lucky Coin has a 1-in-5 chance to boost Stealth by 12% but is random and resets each floor.
