Twisted Guide

Twisted Goob

Twisted Goob is a roaming Twisted that wanders the hallways aimlessly, following no set patrol route. Like every other Twisted in the game, he will begin chasing any Toon that enters his line of sight. However, what sets him apart — and what makes him one of the most dangerous Rare Twisteds — is a grab mechanic that closely parallels Twisted Scraps. Upon spotting a Toon, Twisted Goob can stretch out his arms across a significant distance to seize the target and forcibly pull them directly to his position. This forced relocation typically places the grabbed Toon within immediate melee range, allowing Twisted Goob to follow up with a standard melee attack almost instantly. His grab ability requires maintained line of sight with the target throughout the entire pull animation. If the connection is broken by an obstacle or the Toon moves behind cover before the grab completes, the ability fails entirely without dealing any damage. After a successful or failed grab attempt, the ability enters a 10-second cooldown period before it can be used again. Importantly, Twisted Goob can still land standard melee attacks during this cooldown if any Toon wanders too close to him, so the cooldown does not make him harmless. On the first encounter with Twisted Goob on any Floor, he will always open with his grab ability rather than a standard chase, a trait he shares with Twisted Gigi and Twisted Scraps. A critical distinction of his grab mechanic is that the grab itself does not deal damage — it is the melee attack that follows which actually costs the Toon a Heart. Twisted Goob must retain focus on the pulled Toon to deliver the follow-up melee strike, meaning that distractions such as a Smoke Bomb, Connie's Haunting Escape ability, or a lower-Stealth Toon entering his line of sight after the pull will prevent the melee hit while the pull still goes through. This makes his grab mechanically unique: you will still be relocated, but survival is possible if his attention is diverted before the melee connects.

Mechanic

Twisted Goob will pull any Toon in his line of sight, This can however be prevented by staying out of this Twisted's sight, or hiding behind an object as he tries to pull you. Has a cooldown of 12.

Appearance

Twisted Goob bears a strong resemblance to his Toon counterpart but is immediately distinguished by several unsettling alterations. His claws are considerably longer and sharper than the original Goob's, giving his hands a more predatory silhouette. His eyes feature red sclera surrounding black irises with small red pupils at their center, framed by a dark purple blush that spreads across his face. He appears to be weeping Ichor — the viscous dark substance associated with Twisted corruption — while wearing a perpetually distressed expression. The sharp teeth only hinted at during Goob's interaction with Shelly are now prominently visible in his open mouth. Ichor coats his feet as well, leaving a trail of corruption wherever he walks. The tufts of fur on his forehead and cheeks are more jagged and pointed compared to the softer fluff of his Toon counterpart, adding to his feral appearance. When Twisted Goob detects a nearby Toon, his pupils dilate slightly and his mouth opens wider, shifting his expression from distressed to something even more anguished and desperate. Unlike his Toon counterpart, Twisted Goob does not frog blink, which subtly contributes to his unnerving stare.

How to Deal With Twisted Goob

Since Twisted Goob can snatch Toons from a considerable distance, maintaining constant awareness is essential whenever he is present on a Floor. This is especially true during Blackouts, where his dark appearance lets him blend into the shadows and strike without warning. Avoid lingering in wide open spaces where you have no cover options, and always check around corners before leaving the safety of an obstacle. The moment he pauses to initiate his grab animation, duck behind the nearest solid object immediately. His grab ability will fail if the target breaks line of sight before the pull connects, which you can recognize by seeing the pull animation play without actually moving your character. Exploiting this is straightforward: either duck behind cover or outrange him entirely. Speed Candies, Boxes o' Chocolates, Eject Buttons, or Toon Abilities such as Flutter's flight or Rudie's dash can save you if you react quickly enough when he first spots you. If no cover is accessible, running directly away from him may put you outside his grab range. Note that his grab has a shorter cooldown than Twisted Scraps' tail attack, meaning he can attempt grabs more frequently. Additionally, the grab will fail if his Toon counterpart Goob or Scraps uses their Ability, since invincibility frames take priority — this allows Goob to pull Toons to safety before his Twisted can grab them, or lets Scraps grapple to Machines or Toons before being seized. When Twisted Goob initiates his grab, he freezes in place for a brief moment. You can exploit this pause tactically: if detection is unavoidable, approach the edge of your current cover, let him spot you deliberately, then immediately retreat behind the obstacle so his ability misses. This wastes his grab, puts it on cooldown, and gives you a window to escape normally while he resorts to standard chasing. This bait-and-dodge technique is particularly effective in narrow corridors with frequent cover points. Unlike Twisted Scraps, there is a way to avoid taking damage even after being successfully pulled. If a lower-Stealth Toon enters Twisted Goob's line of sight during or immediately after the pull, he will complete the grab but then shift his attention to chase the lower-Stealth target without delivering his follow-up melee attack. This makes low-Stealth Toons effective emergency distractors: by deliberately revealing yourself to redirect his aggression, you can save a teammate who has already been grabbed. This technique is especially valuable for newer players learning the distractor role against Twisted Goob. When actively distracting Twisted Goob, account for both his grab ability and the freeze time it causes, as this stall can disrupt your looping pattern in unexpected ways. Give yourself extra maneuvering room when kiting multiple Twisteds simultaneously, and watch for the telltale signs he is about to grab — use your Stamina to cut around a corner preemptively before the ability fires. Distracting him alongside other Twisteds carries significant risk without proper awareness of his cooldown timing. Smoke Bombs do not prevent his ranged grab — he will still pull you normally even while you are invisible. The same limitation applies to Connie's Active Ability, Haunting Escape. However, Bobette's Active Ability does work against his grab; she can absorb the hit while boxed up, though he will still pull the present depending on timing. This can be used to tank hits in emergencies, but remember Bobette is completely immobile while inside her present. Blot Jr. has a unique interaction: if deployed and spotted by Twisted Goob before he targets a player, he will attack Blot Jr. with his melee, which oddly places his grab on cooldown. However, if Goob already spotted the player before Blot Jr. was deployed, the grab still connects normally. Notably, Twisted Goob's grab and Twisted Scraps' tail attack do not work on Soulvester at all, thanks to his Passive Ability. Cardboard Armor can also block the grab from Twisted Goob, Twisted Scraps, and Twisted Gigi. When hiding from Twisted Goob, keep in mind that his attention span timer continues to count down during his grab freeze, just as it would during a normal pursuit. If he spots you and you immediately duck behind cover at sufficient distance, his grab ability will fail and his attention timer will already be partially depleted. Stay near the obstacle and he will eventually lose interest and wander away. Exercise judgment when relying on this approach, as misjudging the distance can result in a successful grab. Twisted Goob's grab can actually be turned to your advantage, though it costs a Heart. If he happens to be positioned near a location you urgently need to reach — such as the Elevator during Panic Mode — you can intentionally let him pull you there, effectively using him as a rapid transport. Only attempt this when you have more than one Heart to spare and no safer alternatives exist. Bobette can make this tactic safer since her Ability may prevent Heart loss, but it requires her Ability to be ready and is only practical with more than roughly twelve seconds remaining in Panic Mode to account for her eight-second hiding duration. Because Twisted Goob closely resembles his Toon counterpart when viewed from behind, you may accidentally approach him thinking he is a teammate. He can be distinguished by several tells: his significantly slower movement speed while wandering, his noticeably sharper and longer claws, and his head moving less than his Toon counterpart's. Learning to spot these differences quickly is essential for avoiding surprise grabs in the hallways.

Trivia

  • Twisted Goob can pull Toons toward himself but cannot attack them from range, while Twisted Scraps works in reverse — mirroring their Toon counterparts' abilities.
  • This makes him the first Twisted with a potential ranged attack, alongside Twisted Razzle and Dazzle, Twisted Rodger, and Twisted Scraps, with the second being Twisted Sprout, the third being Twisted Gigi, and the fourth being Twisted Blot.
  • Only Twisted Goob, Twisted Scraps, and Twisted Gigi's ranged attacks can be blocked by Cardboard Armor.
  • Only Twisted Goob and Twisted Scraps' ranged attacks are blocked by Soulvester's Passive Ability.
  • On his first encounter on any Floor, Twisted Goob will always open with his grab ability. The same applies to Twisted Gigi and Twisted Scraps.
  • This also makes Twisted Goob the first Twisted that can directly reposition a Toon.
  • Twisted Goob, Twisted Gigi, and Twisted Scraps share multiple similarities: all are Rare Twisteds, all have ranged attacks, all lead with their ability on first encounter, and neither Smoke Bombs, Connie's Haunting Escape, nor Blot Jr. can deny any of their abilities, while Bobette's Active Ability and Cardboard Armor can.
  • If any of these three Twisteds spot Blot Jr. first and attack it, their abilities will be put on cooldown.
  • His grab does not technically deal damage — the melee attack that follows does. Crucially, Twisted Goob needs to maintain focus on the pulled Toon to follow up with melee, so a Smoke Bomb, Connie's Ability, or a lower-Stealth Toon appearing will prevent the follow-up hit while the pull still goes through.
  • Neither Smoke Bombs, Connie's Ability Haunting Escape, nor Blot Jr. can deny Twisted Goob's grab. If Blot Jr. is deployed and spotted first, Goob attacks it with melee, oddly placing his grab on cooldown. If Goob already spotted a player before Blot Jr. deployment, the grab still connects. This interaction applies identically to Twisted Scraps' tail attack and Twisted Gigi's item steal. Bobette's Active Ability bypasses all of these.
  • Twisted Goob, Twisted Astro, and Twisted Dazzle are the first Twisteds that appear to be crying in their default expressions, preceding Twisted Cosmo, Twisted Glisten, Twisted Sprout, Twisted Connie, Twisted Rudie, Twisted Bassie, Twisted Ribecca and Twisted Gourdy, and Twisted Squirm.
  • Even though dangerous, Twisted Goob himself can serve as a substitute for his Toon counterpart to pull other Toons to specific locations, including the Elevator or Machines.
  • In his concept art, Twisted Goob's hands were depicted much larger than his Toon counterpart's, which was intended for the game but could not be implemented due to functionality issues.
  • His concept art also showed him without sharp teeth or sad eyebrows.
  • Excluding Twisted Blot (stationary), Twisted Goob has the slowest chase speed for a Rare Twisted at 16, tying with Twisted Coal (non-Blackout) and Twisted Scraps.
  • They also tie with Twisted Dandy, Twisted Dyle (at minimum speed), and Twisted Soulvester.
  • Twisted Goob and Twisted Scraps share the smallest hearing range of any Twisted at only 100 studs.
  • When Twisted Goob uses his grab ability, the pulled Toon is always rotated to face him directly.
  • Twisted Goob was among the last Twisteds to be optimized, alongside Twisted Brightney and Twisted Scraps.
  • He and Twisted Scraps are the last Rare Twisteds to be optimized.
  • He is also the last male Twisted to get optimized.
  • When highlighted by Brightney's, Vee's, or Party Popper's effects, Twisted Goob's arms are not illuminated. The same happens with Twisted Scraps' tail and their Toon counterparts' equivalent appendages.
  • This is likely due to their use of RopeConstraints, which are incompatible with Highlights in Roblox.
  • Twisted Goob is the first Twisted to appear in two separate update thumbnails (v0.3 and v0.15), both depicting him using his grab ability on Toons.
  • Upon losing interest in a Toon, Twisted Goob appears to hug himself.
  • Unlike his Toon counterpart, Twisted Goob does not frog blink.
