Description

Paint Bucket is a Skill Check-category Twisted Trinket that simultaneously raises both the Skill Check window size and the probability of a Skill Check occurring by 5% each. Unlike Magnifying Glass, which trades a reduced Skill Check size for higher completion reward per hit, Paint Bucket improves the experience in two complementary directions at once. It is obtained by achieving 100% Research on Twisted Brusha and was added to the game on August 11, 2025, alongside Train Whistle. The combined 5% increase to size and chance makes it a lower-risk Skill Check option compared to the more specialized Participation Award or Magnifying Glass, though the individual boosts are relatively small compared to what other trinkets, items, and abilities can provide.

Strategies

Paint Bucket offers a 5% boost to both Skill Check size and chance, which is a small amount on its own. It is generally outclassed by using both Thinking Cap and Participation Award together, and it is less effective than common items like Stopwatch (Common tier, Dandy's Shop exclusive) and Skill Check Candy (Uncommon tier). Having a Brusha on your team effectively provides the same effects as Paint Bucket but with a much stronger +45% extra boost through her Toggle Ability. Jawbreakers, if you get lucky, also give a +45% extra boost and are common enough that stacking several will guarantee a Skill Check increase.

However, using both Thinking Cap and Participation Award takes up both trinket slots. If you want some of their combined effects while keeping one trinket slot open for a utility or movement trinket, Paint Bucket becomes a decent single-slot alternative. Pairing Paint Bucket with Participation Award specifically gives a 30% Skill Check chance boost with only a small -5.5% reduction in Skill Check size, which is a reasonable trade-off for Toons that need to trigger checks more frequently.

Note that Paint Bucket's size increase on a 1-Star Skill Check Toon is very weak and makes next to no visible difference. The +5% Skill Check chance is also too small to be consistently impactful on its own. At best, this trinket will save a single second or two per Machine, which is not worth much compared to other trinkets. Only use Paint Bucket if you lack other Skill Check trinkets entirely, or if you specifically need the flexibility of a single-slot Skill Check option while reserving your second slot for something like Dog Plush or Speedy Shoes.

Best Users and Practical Value

Paint Bucket is most useful for Toons with small Skill Check windows such as Shrimpo, Bassie, Blot, and Cosmo, because it increases the size of the check window without any drawback. For these Toons, even a small size increase can mean the difference between consistently missing checks and landing them. The chance increase also helps these Toons trigger more Skill Checks per Machine, slightly reducing overall extraction time.

Toons with already-large Skill Check windows like Shelly or Gigi can still equip Paint Bucket, but they gain less practical value from the size boost and may prefer Participation Award and Magnifying Glass for higher completion gain per successful hit. For extractors who already hit their checks reliably, Paint Bucket's value comes almost entirely from the 5% chance increase, which raises the base 25% Skill Check chance to 30%.
