Why Research Map Is Rodger's Signature Trinket

Research Map highlights all capsules on the floor every 10 seconds for only 200 Ichor. On most Toons this is a nice convenience. On Rodger it is transformative. His Detective passive doubles every capsule pickup from 1% to 2% Research, so each capsule he reaches is worth twice what any other Toon would get. Research Map ensures he actually finds them instead of burning his limited Stamina wandering into empty rooms. The combination also has a hidden defensive benefit against Twisted Rodger specifically: Research Map does not highlight fake capsules, so any unlit capsule is confirmed to be a trap. In lobbies where Twisted Rodger is active, this effectively doubles as a detection tool that protects the whole team. For players still working on Rodger's Mastery quest (which requires picking up 125 Research Capsules), Research Map is nearly mandatory.

Mobility Trinkets for Rodger's Speed Problem

Rodger's 2-star Movement Speed is his most punishing weakness. At 12.5 walk and 22.5 sprint, he is slower than most Twisteds and cannot afford to take long routes between objectives. Extraction Trinkets Worth Considering

Rodger already has 4-star Extraction Speed, making him one of the faster extractors in the game. Magnifying Glass is the strongest extraction trinket for him because it adds 1.75 Skill Check value and his 3-star Skill Check size (150) remains workable even after the 33% reduction to roughly 100.5. Players who can consistently hit golden Skill Checks will see Rodger extract at speeds comparable to 5-star Extraction Toons. Machine Manual gives a simpler 5% Extraction Speed boost (1.20 to 1.26) without any execution requirement, but the actual time saved per Machine is only 1-2 seconds, which rarely justifies giving up a survival or Research slot. Vee's Remote pairs well with Rodger in team compositions that need him extracting rather than capsule hunting, since it instantly clears the most exposed Machine each floor and reduces the time Rodger spends vulnerable at objectives.

What Rodger Should Avoid

Double-extraction builds like Magnifying Glass plus Machine Manual sound appealing on paper given Rodger's 4-star Extraction Speed, but they leave him completely exposed to his movement weakness. If Rodger cannot survive chases, he cannot extract anything. Similarly, Dog Plush as a solo mobility pick underperforms on Rodger because his 2-star walk speed cannot convert the percentage boost into meaningful spacing. Avoid trinkets that assume Rodger will be repositioning frequently between Machines. His slow speed means he should plan efficient routes and minimize unnecessary movement rather than trying to play like a faster Toon.
