Soul Sword appears as a light cyan sword with a darker cyan handle, adorned with a diamond. It closely resembles the blade held by Twisted Soulvester in his render, though the trinket version is not covered in Ichor. The clean, spectral design fits the Halloween Event aesthetic and visually ties the item to its source Twisted.

Description

Soul Sword is an Other-category Halloween Event trinket associated with Twisted Soulvester, added on October 10, 2025 alongside Bone Needle and Thread, Memory Locket, and Moon Pack Heirloom. When a Twisted successfully damages the player, the attacking Twisted is afflicted with a 15% speed Debuff for 30 seconds. The Debuff does not stack — if the same Twisted hits the player again during the 30-second window, the Debuff duration refreshes rather than compounding. The trinket effectively punishes Twisteds for landing a hit by slowing their pursuit speed afterward, giving the player a brief movement advantage during the escape. Because it requires being hit to trigger, the effect is reactive rather than preventive. Soul Sword does not work against Twisted Blot, Twisted Connie, Twisted Razzle and Dazzle, Twisted Rodger, or Twisted Squirm, since those Twisteds are either stationary or do not chase players regularly. For Twisted Glisten and Twisted Gourdy, the Debuff only applies during their enraged states.

Strategies

Soul Sword turns a hit into a counterplay opportunity. After being struck, the attacking Twisted runs at 15% reduced speed for 30 seconds, which widens the gap the player needs to break line of sight or reach a corner before the Twisted catches up again. The effect applies per Twisted, so in multi-Twisted encounters each Twisted that lands a hit receives its own independent Debuff.

The 15% reduction is meaningful against fast Twisteds. Twisted Pebble's 24 pursuit speed drops to 20.4, roughly the speed of Twisted Shelly under normal conditions. That is a significant change, but Soul Sword is not enough on its own to guarantee an escape from the fastest pursuers. In practice, the Debuff functions similarly to Poppy's passive speed boost — except instead of the player getting faster, the Twisted gets slower. The result is similar spacing, but Soul Sword does not require a specific Toon pick to activate.

Blushy Bat is the most common alternative. Blushy Bat fully stuns the Twisted for 3 seconds when the player is hit, offering a shorter but more powerful window. Soul Sword provides a weaker effect over a much longer 30-second duration. Players who prefer sustained spacing over a burst escape window may favor Soul Sword, while those who rely on immediate distance creation typically prefer Blushy Bat. The two can also be paired together for layered defense — the stun gives an initial escape burst, and the lingering slow keeps the Twisted behind afterward.

Note that even though it is possible to slow Lethal Twisteds with Soul Sword, doing so is highly not recommended because taking a hit from a Lethal Twisted is guaranteed to cost the player their life.

Best Users and Practical Value

Toons with a large Health pool benefit most from Soul Sword because they can absorb a hit, trigger the Debuff, and heal afterward. Soulvester and Teagan (when stocked with Tape) can deliberately take a hit from a faster Twisted during a loop to slow it down for a distractor teammate, then recover with healing items or a healer Toon. Teagan in particular can heal herself, making the exchange almost free.

Low-mobility Toons like Connie also gain noticeable value. The 15% slow can bring certain Twisteds below Connie's sprint threshold, giving her a realistic chance of outrunning them when she otherwise could not. Looey is another niche pick — his distraction strategy already requires dropping Health to 1, so the Debuff triggers naturally during that process, slowing the Twisted and making his distract loop slightly safer.

Soul Sword pairs especially well with Poppy. Her passive 50% speed boost already creates spacing, and the Twisted slow stacks on top of that to produce a very wide speed gap. However, some players prefer Blushy Bat on Poppy because the full stun synergizes better with her burst escape playstyle.

Notable Speed Reductions

Soul Sword's 15% Debuff produces specific speed drops across different Twisteds. Some highlights include the following.

• Twisted Pebble drops from 24 pursuit to 20.4 pursuit, roughly matching Twisted Shelly's normal pursuit speed.
• Twisted Ginger drops from 14 pursuit to 11.9, the slowest possible chasing speed in the game. Even Toons with 2-Star Movement Speed can out-walk her by 0.6 units.
• Most standard Twisteds (Boxten, Brusha, Cosmo, Looey, Poppy, Ribecca, Rudie, and others) drop from 18 pursuit to 15.3 pursuit.
• Twisted Glisten (enraged) drops from 24 pursuit to 20.4 pursuit, but the Debuff only applies while Glisten is in the enraged state.
• Twisted Bobette drops from 25 pursuit to 21.25. Twisted Gourdy drops from 26 pursuit to 22.1. These remain dangerous speeds even after the Debuff.

Soul Sword has several notable facts about its mechanics and lore.

• Soul Sword is the only Trinket to apply a Debuff to a Twisted and was the first way to inflict the Slow Debuff on a Twisted, before Spring Fevers introduced another method.
• Train Whistle and Soul Sword are the only Trinkets related to the Slow Debuff. Train Whistle makes the user immune to it, while Soul Sword inflicts it on Twisteds.
• Like Blot Jr., Soul Sword does not work against Twisted Blot, Twisted Connie, Twisted Razzle and Dazzle, Twisted Rodger, or Twisted Squirm since they are either stationary or do not chase regularly.
